Simply the best accomodation I have experienced anywhere! Our stay with Maki, her Mother and Kenta dog was relaxing and magical after a week in Tokyo and Maki does absolutley everything to make you feel welcome and at home with her gentle, warm hospitality, The Ryokan itself is an elegant traditional building and is beautifully kept. The amazing Kaiseki dinner and breakfasts that Makis mother presents every night are a wonderful way to experience traditional japanese food after a relaxing onsen bath. Maki was simply the best host, she even drove us up to the start of our walk trail and booked our lunchtime soba restaurant. The local area is breathtaking even in late autumn / early winter and a walk around the shrines is enough to fill a very pleasant day, Wel ove you Maki and we will be back!

The ryokan has facilities for disabled guests. stayed for 2 nights at this place and it was one of the best experiences on our 3 week trip to Japan. The house is owned by husband and wife who works at the place. We had the whole house to ourselves 2 people. The house is situated 6 km from town and is a traditional Japanese onsen next to a waterfall. We felt very welcome and the family went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The food was some of the best we had in Japan cooked traditionally by the fire in the house and served in the dining room. The family drove us forth and back to the train station, and when we went hiking on the Magome - Tsumago trail, and took us to the festival in the town. If you are in for a real Japanese experience- we can’t recommend this place enough.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly face & exceptional service. They brought our luggage up to the room for us and showed us how to use a ryokan. Honestly wish I could give the man at the front desk / little old lady helping us in a hug. The private onsens were so gorgeous. We were able to access all 3 without a wait , but if they were in use there’s a time limit of 50 minutes and you can mark yourself down next if that’s the case. We chose to have dinner & breakfast included in our stay, and it was also amazing. High quality local traditional food. We were taught how to eat some dishes. We were both brought to tears with the amount of joy this stay brought us. One of our top experiences within Japan. Our room was huge with lots of space & beautiful light. Futons were comfortable. If you’re undecided where to stay for a great ryokan experience, please choose this place ! * If you’re looking for coffee there is a vending machine in lobby area & just outside near the parking lot.
