Beyond expectation! A lovely and large traditional yet modernised family home, and in a great location for exploring the delights of Lake Ashi... with peerless Mount Fuji views just a few metres away!! The property could easily accommodate a family or small group and is great value, therefore. Don't hesitate with this one, as you won't be disappointed! The only downside is that the local eateries when we visited (early April) close relatively early, though you can stock the fridge etc and you have all the implements you need to cook and eat. Oh yes, I nearly forgot the natural and private hot spring bath - a great bonus!!! A very comfortable and relaxing stay in a quiet and small residential area with a helpful and thoughtful owner.

This place is so beautiful and very spacious. I liked that there were 2 toilets too. We were very impressed by the traditional interior design of the house. It felt fancy but not over the top. The private onsen was so lovely and relaxing too. The place is very close to a bus stop which made it really easy to get around and also really close to a 7 Eleven as well as a restaurant so we had everything we needed. Beautiful view out the upstairs windows of the surrounding mountains. This place is really special, I highly recommend it!

We had an amazing stay at this house! The traditional Japanese style is beautifully preserved, while the modern amenities make it incredibly comfortable. The peaceful atmosphere, spotless cleanliness, and well-equipped facilities (great kitchen, comfy bed, clean bathroom) made our stay perfect. A perfect blend of authenticity and modern comfort. Would definitely come back!

Great location not far from the station. Very well appointed. Garden aspect from the bathroom which included a sauna and onsen. Would have liked to stay longer to enjoy the facilities. Host responded promptly to all queries.

Moon Hakone was one of my favourite places on my travels throughout Japan. Just far enough out of the city to feel in utter bliss. The sauna and tub are a great way to start the day along with the camp fire on a still evening. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and the hosts are very communicative and helpful. This is a beautiful house up on the hill, surrounded by trees, overlooking the lake. It is very cozy and has a luxurious bath. I didn't sleep in the western style beds, but my daughter slept well. The kitchen looked very nice and well-equipped. I could very well imagine staying there for several days. We made reservations on very short notice (because our other option didn't suffice when we arrived in the village) and were able to move in an hour later.
