Barking, although recognised as a deprived area of London,...

Barking, although recognised as a deprived area of London, is a pleasant working class suburb of London. The streets were clean and during the day I was happy to see that the shops were all used and open for trade. The people were approachable and friendly (although as in most places there are bound to be others that are not). I went to a local cafe and had something to eat and drink, it was surprisingly cheap and good quality. As it was New Years eve, I had to return to the area in the early hours of the morning, however, felt safe doing so, (again just be aware of the surroundings and stay alert, but this would be the same in any area). Overall, I found Barking a lovely down to earth area.

For a 2 star hotel it rated well....staff were able to provide a fan as the room was not sufficiently cool enough for sleeping Staff were friendly and cooperative...drawback location being some distance from Barking railway station...at least 15/20 minutes walk

The room was boiling hot. there wasn't any AC available. no spare pillows and bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. shower facility was very poor. the room was very small. They call it hotel but most of the customers looked like council use this place as refuge accommodate those people. very poor quality for the money. Totally waste of money and Saturday night.

Terrible area. Terrible hotel. Terrible everything there.

Terrible area. Terrible hotel. Terrible everything there. Even thought you might be low on budget, do NOT stay at the bank hotel in barking if you care for your health. The place should close and be sanitized. All the furnitures, beds etc should be burned. I am NOT exaggerating.

The child bunk bed was very hard and uncomfortable and it was not made on arrival so we had to put sheets on ourselves bathroom had no lock and my 3 year old can easily open the door if i was using the toilet or shower! Keycards did not work and caused us a lot of frustration and really made our whole experience at the hotel very disappointing would not stay here again wasnt cheap to book this place either at £80 is definitely not a budget hotel the family room was very small for the price

About the apartment I stayed in London home Away Barking, I did a last minute booking which took me less than few minutes to arrive as the location which was so accessible I was checked in and the environment was so nice as was advertised. with an orthopaedic bed and the reception was amazing from the host. This is by far one of the best houses in London, interior design was very beautiful and modern. Superb house and the Host was very professional, polite, kind and was very helpful. One of the best hosts in London.

The location was great : Pub with music everyday until morning nextdoor, ghanian restaurant called Julienest (I believe is the best so far in London) near by, pharmacy and ASDA supermarket close by with free parking up to 3 hours, Go karting (capital karts) and other wonderful entertainment places in the area like Hollywod Bowl Dagenham (just 10 minutes by bus). It was fun to go there with my boyfriend and friends, and the staff was very friendly. Definitely will love to go back. We all wished we extended our stay!

Very close to the Barking subway station, even with luggage no problem. rooms are very small and a bit tired but for that price it is a solid offer. please be aware that you will feel almost like in Africa, very lively environment. I loved it. the pub next door (part of the hotel) serves African food only, and excellent beer. lots of small shops and eateries around the hotel. will definitely stay there again next year.

The stay at the bank hotel was not to the expectations of when I had done the booking. We faced multiple issues during our stay, No hot shower was available even after informing the reception. There was no kettle kept in the room. The kitchen was supposed to be available for guests but was under renovation which could not be used, This was extremely discomforting as we had carried food to be eaten during the trip.

Facilities are worth the money. It was clean and my room was away from the road so was quite. The bathroom was nice, staff was doing their job well. Barking station is 16 mins on foot. Deliveroo brings a variety of takeouts and there is a microwave downstairs to heat food. My only complaint was there was no heating in my room and there was probably a water tank on top of room, so the room was very very cold.

Newly redecorated large house, our room had a balcony that had a great view overlooking the nice neighbourhood, and a small lake. Bus stop is 5 mins walk with easy access to Barking statin that connects to London in under 20 mins. The host was hospitable and made our stay pleasant. Fast wifi, clean house and beddings. I would definitely recommend.

The hotel was good and clean, and the staff was very friendly, especially Sony was quite helpful. I was there to study for my exam, so they even offered me a quiet room. For those who want to take the PLAB 2 exam and are enrolled at Common Stations, the hotel is a great place to stay at. It's only 10-15 minutes away from the academy.
