It was really close to the bus stop and Takegawara Onsen. We loved the Beppu cold noodles restaurant called "Rokusei", which again was close to the hostel. The area around the hostel had a retro atmosphere, but the hostel itself was stylishly built. The prices were reasonable.

Everything about this hotel from start to finish was wonderful. I arrived right at 3pm for check-in. The staff was welcoming. I put my shoes in the shoe locker and walked on tatami mats throughout the hotel in the Japanese socks they provided. My room was absolutely spotless, well-equipped with standard Japanese hotel room items and included a towel rack which was helpful after going to the onsens and it also had a great view. I put on my loungewear and headed to the onsens.
Both group and 7 private onsens were varied with open-air and white water and different sizes. A few massage chairs were also available and free snacks were provided throughout the day.
The location of this hotel is perfect. It's a two-minute walk from Beppu train station. There were plenty of cute restaurants, shops, bars, convenience stores and even a movie theatre in the immediate area.
My bed was comfortable and the room was quiet.
The next morning was an incredible breakfast buffet. There was an unbelievable variety it was delicious. The hotel appears to be new. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here if you are coming to Beppu. Location, cleanliness, delicious food, lovely onsens, and comfortable bed. Everything was fabulous. I would gladly stay there again.

Beppu has a great vibe, especially the area around Beppu Station and the area near the "hells". The sight of water vapour rising between all the buildings is truly something. But aside from the hells and the hot springs there is not that much more to do in the city itself. So 2-3 days should definetely be enough for people who have a limited amount of time in Japan. The city of Yufu one hour busride from Beppu and certainly worth a visit. There are a couple of other great places in Oita Prefecture worth visiting but those are a little bit hard to access without a car.

Beppu is one of the best cities I visited, it is a city is in the middle of sea and mountain. There is a lot of Onsen where you can be easy to find around the city, Beppu is called " City of Onsen".
You can relax and release any daily tired at the onsen bath (especially if you bath onsen pool outside)
Furthermore, you can go to viewpoint to see the Beppu city and mountain view.
It is a good memory to visit there.

The seven hells of Beppu (Jigoku) are really great to fill a day. You can have a nice walk along the shoreline and the mall near the bay offers a great shopping opportunity. There are a few good restaurants that you can enjoy. The neighborhood around the Jigoku is quite nice, the rest of Beppu not so much. Two or three days are enough for this town.

We didn't have enough time to see other onsen areas.
We didn't have enough time to see other onsen areas. We did not rent a car so we traveled by bus. We did not get to see the onsen areas as I did want to try some of the other ryokan onsens. The only problem I had was with the stools that you sit on to swcrub yourself.

I really enjoyed the hot springs!
I really enjoyed the hot springs! I went to Hyotan Onsen and did the hot springs and sand bath. the sand bath was a little underwhelming but the hot springs was perfect! there was also a waterfall bath which was a nice experience. the sand bath was a "do it yourself" situation where you dig a hole and cover yourself. it was nice; i recall i fell asleep. It was a little underwhelming; i would do just the hot springs again though! Also, the sand bath area was kind of small and co-ed, 7-8 rows and probably fit 4 people per row. Other than that, Hyotan had a dining restaurant and tried the cold ramen; refreshing after a nice hot dip! Getting around Beppu was easy for me. i was mostly around just the hot spring area and the area of the 7 devil hot springs (which i ran out of time and did not get to do all but was happy i got to do at least 5). the area was also kind of hilly... so one may be walking uphill a bit but no big deal, not a steep incline. Overall, Beppu was a great experience and I would come back for the hot springs as it's what the town is known for!
Breakfast comes with two choices, either the international buffet or the Japanese traditional set.
Note that the Japanese traditional set only consist of sashimi and cold cuts hence may not be suitable for all.
The international buffet is very nice though.
They also have public onsen which is kind of "dated" but serves its purpose well.
Carpark is free, just need to exchange your car park ticket for a complimentary pass at the hotel reception.
I like that there is a private onsen inside our room. We get to enjoy the onsen anytime we want. I also like that there is real mattress in the Japanese style room. The room has so much privacy. I could hardly hear any noise from the hallway or next room. We chose the dinner and breakfast and they were phenomenal. We love this place and we will definitely go back if we visit Beppu again. All staffs are very nice and helpful.
In the heart of Kannawa district, perfect for visiting the Hell ponds of Beppu or enjoying a nighttime onsen. Accessible hot spring bath and sauna on the ground floor of the hotel. Bonus : you het to experience as you wish the "hell steam cooking" (jigokumushi) from a free access kitchen in front of the hotel with three steam ovens. A great experience at a very friendly price
Conveniently located just a couple of minutes away from the train station and bus stop, with plenty of restaurants and onsen at walking distance. Other areas, such as the jigoku (hells), easily reachable by bus from the station. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a set menu but was good. Room was ok and the hotel has a laundry room (washing-drying machines).
The hotel seems to have been partially renovated and has very nice sea view, onsen is also very nice on top floor, with pool outside as well. Room was very big and had a private big bath, with natural spring water, after all Beppu is capital of onsens. There was a convenient parking place by the hotel for an additional fee, but not expensive.
A good hotel just a 2-minute walk from Beppu station. Awesome staff, clean room with basic facilities and great view of the hill at 10th floor. Clean bathroom and toilet. Walking distance to main street, station, bus stop, and many onsens. Highly recommended. Delicious Japanese style breakfast was included. Beppu is a great city
- Architecture of the hotel is mind blowing. The place itself should be the attractions of Beppu.
- Room is spacious with private onsen in every room.
- Staffs are nice and friendly with high quality service.
- Food is well-prepared and high quality.
- Technology in the room is appreciative. Speaker/ Robot vacuum etc.
Awesome in-room Japanese style breakfast and dinner with a variety of courses. Kind staff that would chat with us and share travel tips. There is shuttle bus service between hotel and the JR station within designated time. There is an indoor onsen tub in every house.
The hotel was a stone thrown from the station and the center of Beppu. Staff was very helpful and breakfast was very good! The onsen, pool and sauna were great after long days walking. The bed was very comfortable! Highly recommended!
Good location. Check in was swift. Breakfast range pretty good. Staff were courteous- front desk and at Bfast dining. Onsen was welcoming after the long drive from Hataka. Good stopover hotel. Just 1 min walk from Beppu Tower too.
Cheap apartment right in the centre of Beppu close to most of the onsen and the shopping and of course the "vice" streets. Walking to a lot of the onsen here takes a few minutes. Full kitchen and Laundry are within the apartment,
New hotel and close to Beppu Station. Less than 1 minute walk from station. When check-in you can choose a pillow and pick some amenities from front desk. Big room!!! There is an onsen in the hotel. Easy access to all area.
It was quite difficult to find the hotel at first. It is located in the Onsen area n also walking distance to restaurants. The staff is very helpful n friendly. Onsen in the hotel itself. Parking is free n near hotel.
Most beautiful bedroom - rather an appartement- we have had during our trip to Japan with private onsen, ocean view. . Personnel is fantastic, japanese dinner was excellent. Very good buffet breakfast. Memorable !
The hotel is new and very well equipped. The 7 private onsen is the best facility offered for free at the hotel. It’s almost like a cross over between a western hotel and a traditional Japanese onsen ryokan.
You can use the super amazing rooftop bath and the onsen at the building next to the hotel. The view of the bay and the mountains is unbelievable. The room of the inn is a little small though.
Traditional Japanese hotel with outdoor onsen and set Japanese dinner and breakfast. You don’t need to think about what to eat. Staff at dinner restaurant speaks fluent English.
