I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.
I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.

The host was amazing, he has two dogs. 50 years old traditional house is an experience itself. House is comfortably situated between two stations, one of which is Shinkansen stop. 7-eleven is nearby. Authentic experience of Japanese life different from hectic Tokyo, because not touristy.anaGeorgia

It was very comfortable, the staff were helpful even with a language barrier (I unfortunately do not speak Japanese.) They allowed me to check in early once my room was ready. They have a spa/bath on premises that I didn't know about but was happy to hear about. The room was clean, and overall I would highly recommend this hotel. They have a shuttle to the station as well, and the breakfast was a buffet mix of western and Japanese foods.

The view was pretty good from the upper deck of the parking garage. (In close by Chuo Park there are lots of opportunities to see the mountain without powerlines :) It helps to get up early because the haze and the clouds really come in later in the day. One early evening we couldn't tell there was a mountain.) The room price included a breakfast buffet - a mixture of western and Japanese. We took advantage of the restaurant - the dinner was beautifully prepared and tasted delicious.

They have been the nicest host I met during my stay in Japan. The facilities in the guesthouse are up to date and very comfortable to use.
