The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!
Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.
Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.
For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.
Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.
The City is very clean and people are very polite.
The City is very clean and people are very polite. We like Tokyo. Food is already fantastic.
The things we don't like are it's too crowded and subway station is confusing sometimes. But we wish to revisit Japan in future.

The most amazing city on earth.
The most amazing city on earth. Pleasant, charming, organised, busy and quiet, green and buzzling. Tokyo never sleeps and from early morning runs along the Sumida river to late evening strolls between Omotesando and Shibuya, one can be fully entertained around the clock! Favourite spots include hidden secret gardens, quiet rooms at the Tokyo National Museum, and riding the Tokyo Metro (trying to read the ads in Japanese and enjoying the jingles at each station).

I ended up enjoying Tokyo for the parks there is so many and so well kept.
Amid amazing parks everywhere we could just go on a small trip to Shibuya for some shopping.
Kabukicho was always filled with tourists and there was always to see.
The monuments are all amazing.
I would recommend if you know in first hand you are going to try as soon as possible to book you visit on the imperial palace.
Sometimes the best photo opportunity for me was when i went on side streets and would find a small shrine or an amazing well kept garden.
Hopefully on my next trip i will stay even longer

Tokyo and Japan overall is one of those places you are going to miss when back home. Shinjuky, Shibuya, Osaka and Kyoto station are fantastic spots, however everywhere you look streets are clean, people are impeccably dressed, there are nicer public bathrooms that you can find at your own home and the food is top tier. And the public transportation? unbelivable! clean, fast, and on time! like nowhere else in the world.

I didn't feel the crowding of the world's most densely populated city. The only real crowding was in viewing the cherry blossoms found in parks around the city. The few places I experienced were large enough that the crowds were spread out. I would recommend walking in the city to places you want to see (if possible) as the subways do get crowded. I planned to be able to walk an hour or less to my destinations. If you can't/don't like to walk, an IC card or subway pass is a good thing to have. I loved seeing the giant Miyazaki clock and Skytree really gives you an idea of the density and size of Tokyo. The Imperial Palace grounds are beautiful. Meiji Temple is one place I would go back to as I didn't have a lot of time to experience the trails around it. The entrance is lined with an avenue of huge trees.
The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Tokyo Shiodome provided a fantastic experience after the long flight to Tokyo. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the room was very comfortable. The hotel staff was polite and friendly and made certain that all of our needs were taken care of. The reception staff spoke English fluently and made the check in/check out process very easy for those who aren’t fluent in Japanese. Would definitely recommend staying here to avoid the business and crowds associated with hotels around Shinjuku or Tokyo station.
Second mimaru property we stayed at in Tokyo. We really liked the last one (Ueno east) but liked this even more. The room was more spacious, very spacious by Tokyo standards. Same comfy beds and helpful friendly staff. The location was good - very close to station on the Oedo line which runs across to the east side for Asakusa and Ueno, as well as being close to the west side neighbourhoods. The immediate neighbourhood was office towers and tall hotels, but plenty of services and close to livelier parts of Shinjuku as well.
The location of the hotel is great if you would like to be central to the tourist attractions. It's a short walking distance to Shinjuku station and also there is Tochomae subway station only few hundred metres from the hotel. The rooms were quite spacious in comparison to most hotels in Tokyo. The view from the room was great and depending on which side/floor your room is located you can see Mt Fuji on a clear day. A 7-11 and a Family Mart just below the hotel made it very convenient.
I loved the location, it's near two Metro stations that can get you around tokyo. There are also many shops & restaurants around the hotel. It has a local vibe compared to staying in popular areas like Shinjuku or Shibuya. I also sent out my luggage to the airport in advance so having to carry them wasn't a problem. I also loved the staff everyone was really nice and accommodating especially Masuda & Kuroki. The room I booked was perfect for a solo traveler like me and I loved the bed.
Gotanda is one of the best places to stay in Tokyo in my opinion. The hotel is on the Yamanote line, it is centrally located with easy access to Shinagawa, Meguro, Ebisu and you can get to Shibuya and Shinjuku and other hubs easily. Property is right next to the train station and there are lovely restaurants, shops and bars close by.
Staff were excellent and very professional and helpful.
A cab ride to Haneda is less jan ¥7000 if you have an early flight.
This hotel is located in a central part of Shibuya and is easily walkable to Harajuku. It has a "cool" vibe with an Italian restaurant on the main floor and a coffee shop/bar on the ground floor. The staff were helpful when we needed them but generally hands-off as you check-in and check-out on computers in the lobby yourself. Our room was on the 13th floor so we didn't hear any street noise, which was nice. My husband and I enjoyed our stay overall.
If you're solo travelling look no further than place. Best bang for your buck out there. Capsule hotel so you have some privacy when sleeping. Comes with an artificial hot springs facility. Free food, drinks, coffee and alcohol. The location is perfect too. Right beside Shinjuku train station and Shinjuku itself is where a lot of the nightlife is happening! 10/10 will stay again next time I'm in Tokyo!
We stayed in the private room with bathroom and balcony and it was great. Lots of natural light and space to spread out (relative to other Tokyo hotels). Breakfast was nice and my husband made reservations in the sauna run on the first floor two days in a row because he enjoyed it so much! The neighborhood is very unique with lots of cafes and European influences - I’m glad we got to check it out!
- Located close to a Oedo subway station (Higashi-Shinjuku) and at walking distance from Kabukicho area, so easy to move around and a lot of animations available at night
- The hotel was overall pretty clean and felt recently constructed.
- The bed was comfortable, and the shower pressure was good
- The roof terrace was enjoyable to have a drink and relax after a long day of visiting Tokyo
The lobby has such a wonderful vibe, especially of a morning when everyone is hanging about, eating their baked goods. Rooms are very clean and modern. Shinjuku Station was a bit of a stroll, but we found it much easier to access by walking underground starting from the Tochomae Station entrance just on the other side of Shinjuku Chuo Park. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay again!
Absolutely loved my stay in the capsule hotel. Very centrally located in Tokyo Shinjuku area. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, easy walking distance to Shinjuku station. The sleeping capsule was very comfortable and clean, I would definitely stay again. I'd recommend bringing earplugs as the rooms are not soundproof, though all the guests were very quiet and respectful of each other.
The hotel is located near Otsuka station on the Yamanote line, which is convenient because it is connected to the most touristy locations in Tokyo, such as Shibuya, Shinjuku, Akihabara, Harajuku, and Ueno, among others. It is also near convenience stores, restaurants, and malls. The hotel staff are courteous, helpful, and speak in English.
The cleanliness and the staff members assistance
AND the breakfast buffet!
I used this hotel for participating 2023 Tokyo Marathon. It was only for approx. 10 min walk from the JR Shinjuku station (West Entrance), across from Chuo Park. Probably just 5 minutes walk to the starting area for the race.
Great place to stay for the price and a must you want to experience a capsule hotel, The location is great since it’s not too far from the main areas of Shibuya and not too far off from Public Transport Staff were friendly and the place offered plenty of amenities and storage.
Loved the location! Steps away from the Shibuya Scramble, Shibuya Sky, Hachiko square, Shibuya Station, etc. The park, the shops, and the restaurants attached to the hotel are wonderful perks! Easy check in/check out process. Loved the view of Tokyo from our room!
Fast check in, Great service from the staff. Capsule well situated to attractions of Shinjuku. 5 different tube stations within 12 minutes of hotel. Ideal to get any where in Tokyo. The hotel very clean and bed was comfortable. Washing machine on site.
My Husband and I stayed here for our trip to Tokyo. The hotel is conveniently located, a quick walk to shopping and dining options. It’s also a quick walk to the Senso Ji temple and Asakusa train station. We enjoyed our stay.
Very nice neighbourhood with plenty of food options (izakayas and family restaurants) around. There is even a small kebab joint below the hotel that opens til late. 20mins train ride away from Shinjuku and Shibuya.
The hotel is within a 10 minute JR train from the Disney resort and Tokyo station. Also a short taxi ride to Team Labs. It's a little far for Shibuya or Shinjuku.
