My Partner and I have visited Akaroa three times, the views are absolutely beautiful, the French heritage is evident, gardens are well maintained around the village. There are lots of little shops, cafes and restaurants to suit all.

Lots to do here. Great shops and cafes/restaurants. You must sail on the Fox II to see the dolphins, penguins and seals and learn about the local history. Outstanding!
Very walkable town and also some good hiking.

Akaroa is a must-visit township, it has some amazing cafes/restaurants, and the food is great and varied. Some of them have both inside and outside seating so it is lovely to take advantage of that on a nice day. There are also some great wee shops to visit where you can find a treasure of two. We found a gin-tasting cafe that is a must-visit when you are there and also an Indian Restaurant whose food was amazing. All the shops and cafes are within walking distance if your accommodation is in town. There are some great walks to go on and we also went swimming with the dolphins which is an experience I highly recommend when you are in Akaroa.

We loved the quaint historic town.
We loved the quaint historic town. We loved its French flavour. The cafe’s and restaurants outstanding especially Ma Maison where we had the best meal ever. The food, the flavours and the welcoming staff, outstanding! We had breakfast at The Common, again fabulous. We loved walking round the bay to the quay. Everyone was so friendly and happy to stop and talk. At the end of the quay was the prize, the beautiful pearl shop, an absolute must to visit. We can’t wait to return. Already planning a longer trip.

I have been a regular visitor as my French ancestors founded it. The only thing that stops me coming more often is that dangerous-feeling hill up and down. Nice, quiet (mostly) place that focuses on food, events and nature. Need to put in a lot more effort to add more genuine French flavour to shops and activities. A simple Bonjour is not too difficult. Akaroa's true French nature is being dumbed down by new arrivals who are only interested in commerical gain.
The location was quiet, loved waking up to the birdsong. The cottage had everything we needed, good cooking facilities, good sized fridge, washing facilities and the bed was very comfortable. The couches were comfortable. The pool was an extra bonus. Loved being away from the busy Akaroa village yet only 5 minutes away by car. Very much looking forward to staying again.
Sharron & Noel went that extra mile to make our holiday extra special. The historical home was set in romantic gardens - trees 160 years old - native birds. Loved sitting under the verander taking coffee with home baking. The breakfast was a dream berries, pastries and those amazing cooked breakfast. Our hosts had thought of everything to make our stay extra special.
What a gem! We had a fabulous stay here - the location is perfect for exploring the town, the room was super clean and comfortable, and breakfast was amazing. We especially loved spending time in the sitting room with the fireplace going - so cozy! Jacqui and Tim are wonderful hosts. If you're planning to visit Akaroa, look no further for the best accommodation!!
Exceptionally beautiful surroundings, remote yet close to town…. The bird song here at dawn was one of the highlights of my trip. The hosts are friendly and attentive. The view is from a high hillside overlooking Akaroa, very special. The lodge room was entirely unique, especially the sweet loft room ( for fit adults or children only) .
The cottage was in a perfect location, very clean and has everything you need. I really like all the attention to details and how you can even warm yourselves up by the fireplace when it gets a bit cold at night. I will definitely choose this place again when I visit Akaroa in the future! Owner was also very friendly and nice. :)
The location is right in the heart of Akaroa, straight across the road from the waterfront.
The sunny courtyard accessible from the lounge and master bedroom was a lovely private area, but with a wrought iron gate that afforded views to the sea and street.
Lovely views of the sea and street from open plan lounge/dining/kitchen.
The property consists of 2 apartments. We had the Penthouse on top of the building. It had amazing views over Akaroa Harbour. The property is an easy 20min walk along the waterfront to the centre of Akaroa where there are many dining venues. "The Common" was frequented by us a lot during our stay!
Exceptionally clean and good value.
Bar staff were polite and helpful in assisting me.
Despite a crowded Saturday night event my room was very quiet
The Hotel was up the North end of town away from the noise and bustle of the the main part of town.
Easy walk to all activities and shops.
Stunning location - very quiet and quaint. Awesome to have use of the pool on a hot day (though we did have to clean it ourselves!), beds were extremely comfy and the property itself was just stunning. Nice quick 5 min drive into Akaroa so perfect for a relaxing getaway.
Hideaway is a lovely little cottage tucked away in the forest. It was secluded, comfortable with lots of space for two and the environment was filled with birdsong. So relaxing we almost forgot to take a look around Akaroa itself, which was delightful.
Beautiful historic cottage in lovely garden setting. Very peaceful spot - didn't want to leave!
Easy 10min walk into Akaroa township.
Cottage was beautifully furnished and decorated.
Bed very comfortable with lovely linen.
Location was stunning over Akaroa Harbour. Is upstairs above a cafe on the street frontage of the harbour.
Kitchenette with basics all there. Private shower and bathroom. Good communication with the vendors.
location was fab looking directly down to the Akaroa wharf. Great place to stay and stroll around the village and waterfront. Comfy bed. Nice to sit on the patio. Would stay again.
Central- walking distance to beach, shops and restaurants. Good for a stay of a few days, while exploring Akaroa.
Good fish and chiips just around the corner!
