We usually go to Santa Maria/Orcutt about every 2 months to visit my sister & brother-in-law. We don't do alot of tourist-y things, but have been introduced to several really great places to eat (The Hitching Post in Casmalia for dinner, Kay's, or Jack's for great breakfast and/or lunch, to name a few) , and some super nice people who live and work there. Santa Maria/Orcutt is close to alot of popular beaches, so it's a great home base for a beach day (or two). We love to stay at The Wine Stone Inn in Orcutt for a relaxing and fun get away.

Parts of town can be deceiving as in you can't judge a book by it's cover. Good food, good shopping, great access to the beaches and great wineries abound in the area. We made it to the airshow which was a plus. All in all, we would return.

We were travelling up from LA to Monterey so tried to stop halfway. We actually kept driving back to Santa Barbara as it was more scenic. Pismo isn’t too far but wasn’t the greatest weather. Uber is good for food but cannot get an Uber taxi no matter how hard you try. Plenty of choice for food - loved ihop for breakfasts and Applebys is a must for dinner.

We enjoyed our trip very much.
We enjoyed our trip very much. Santa Maria Friday nights was a fun outside market just up from our hotel. Loved the flavors and live music. We were happy to be close to the coast also. We made a day trip to Pismo stopping by the Luffa farm. Also close for a day trip to Foxen wine trail and old town Orcutt area to explore. Santa Maria was very clean city and walkable plus many trail heads near by.
The rooms were beautiful and very clean. It was quiet and we would recommend anyone to book a room here.
We only stayed one night but if a longer stay we would of tried their breakfast. The clerks at the desk were
very polite and friendly. They immediately informed us if we needed anything they would assist us. Great job.
We also took a tour of the hotel and noticed a family having a great time at the pool. Something for anyone to
look forward to if they desire. We left with a smile on our faces. Thanks for the restful time.
HISTORIC SANTA MARIA INN
was highly reccomended...so we paid extra for a weekend.
We had arranged for a prepaid late check in a week in advance.
We probably got the last vacancy...
Long walk to the very last room.
Sadly we were given the wrong room number.
Glad we didn't wake the occupants.
We were awakened early by housekeeping with rumbling, vaccuming and loud communications among staff walky talkeys speaking loudly in the hallway.
We stayed at this hotel just one night during our California round trip. The room was small but clean, the bathroom was nice too. Breakfast (included) was as expected for a Marriott hotel: paper plates, plastic cutlery - not good for our planet (!) -, some warm items (scrambled eggs, sausages, outmeal), drinks (coffee, juices), wafles and bagles. We had to bring our own bread to make toast. So overall, this hotel is OK for a one night stay.
I booked 2 nights a month ahead for the Santa Maria Air Show. Good thing I did the place was sold out.
It was chilly and drizzly but thew room was toasty warm with the in wall heater, After a nice hot shower, I got a great nights rest for the long air show day on Saturday. Michael at the front desk was very accommodating and made my stay very nice. There was an awesome BBQ joint right next door as well. I will stay there again next year!
The room was large and perfect for our family. All of the staff was friendly. They greet you walking the halls with a smile.
They have an in house restaurant that made breakfast and dinner much easier.
The pool and hot tub area was great. Hardly anyone there.
In our week long stay, i heard anther guest in our room 1 time.(thru the ceiling, kids running) The walls are very well insulated for sound.
One of the best hotel rooms I've experienced in a very long time! Modern and classy, absolutely wonderful decor, large room with sitting area and balcony. Lovely large bathroom with walk-in shower, everything really beautifully appointed.
Staff could not have been better! Everyone we encountered was more than willing to help with anything we needed. Not that we needed much in such a wonderful hotel!
We used this as the second stop when driving down from San Francisco to LA. Great location, easy to find. The hotel was immaculate, the room was big and extremely clean. We used the pool which is small and clean but be aware that people can see in from the car park. Would recommend spending the day in Pismo Beach and then driving to the hotel in the evening rather than spending the day in Santa Maria.
breakfast was a joke. I've had "free" breakfasts at many different hotels - this was the worst! Orange juice and muffins was all that was offered, no cereal, toast, hard boiled eggs, oranges, apples were offered. Most places have waffle irons or toasters for bagels or toast.
The room was very spacious, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. If you are traveling to SF from La this is a very good place to stay between these two cities. Also, the hotel is very close to a number of restaurants and stores by car.
We had to change rooms because of black slim in the bathtub. The front desk staff were exceptionally kind and helped us change rooms. The hotel is dated and needs repairs. The only reason I didn’t rate it worse is the kindness of the staff
Location was ok if you were travelling for business. But if you are holidaying, avoid Santa Maria. Rooms were a good size and beds were comfortable. Soulless place though. No cafe/bar or anything just an apartment building.
Room was a surprise - host thought about anything to make a guest happy. Have never seen in a small hotel such a comfort. And also the restaurant - a local saloon - was amazing!!
Stayed for 3 nights with BW in Santa Maria. We were a large group of 5 families. The property was good, kids enjoyed the swimming pool. Overall, property was good.
