The hotel is on top of the restaurant Bistrot de La Marine and offers a fantastic view of the beach with a balcony. The weather was more than 30C every day but our room was nice and cool with the A/C. Our host, Nico, and all the staff (from the hosts to the chefs in the restaurant) were super nice and attentive. Our room was refreshed every day by the housekeeper and there was a mini fridge in the room, good Wi-fi, big TV, and a comfortable bed. The room was definitely better than we thought from the picture! There are lots of good restaurants and nightlife nearby and a nice shopping centre 30mins walk in St. Laurent du Var. The area is not central, which was even better as we avoided the crowded city centre, but still had easy transportation links to central Nice (2 stops by train) and Monaco (30mins on the same train). Other than that, you can also take a bus to St Paul du Vence or take a day trip to Cannes and Antibes, but you might be tempted to stay on the beach: enjoy the clear water and have drinks at the beach clubs or coffee and sweets in the boulangeries nearby.

Claire and Jean-Michel were the perfect hosts! They had offered us their personal maps to see the best spots and places around, and their recommendations didn’t disappoint ! Where to park the car, which route to take in order to avoid any traffic, which village had the best view, and which attraction was worth visiting. Very kind and helpful, respectful at the same time! It was a really good experience! The place was well cleaned and equipped with everything you could possibly need, the pool was clean and there was plenty of room to swim for everyone. Recommend!

I cannot fault anything about our stay with Claire and Jean Michele at au vallon rouge. Right from the start, we were made to feel at home . We walked up to St Paul de Vence each morning for breakfast, a 30 min. uphill hike not for the faint hearted but worth it , but we are both 65 and made it. The pool was a godsend after a day of exploring in 30 degree heat. We were given fantastic ideas and maps for touring each day. Which reminds me you do need a car. Overall a lovely experience.
