Brno is 15 km from Zámek Křtiny, while Olomouc is 49 km away.... Zámek Křtiny was home and a place of shelter to my mother and her school mates during WW II - a lot more basic back then! So returning to this place after 80 years was fraught with memories for her, but we so much appreciate the understanding and amicableness of the staff in the present-day hotel (and special thanks go to Tereza). Yet even without this background, the hotel (at just 20 km from Brno) would make a very pleasant base to explore the Moravian Karst with its many caves and wooded hills – a perfect autumn getaway. The large pilgrimage church that adjoins the hotel and the pretty gardens are additional attractions. The hotel is tastefully furnished throughout (bedrooms, restaurant, conference rooms) and all rooms were spotlessly clean and well heated. Great views from the terrace. We also enjoyed two excellent dinners in the hotel's restaurant.

A carefully restored former school building, Hotel Stara Skola is located in the centre of Sloup in Moravian Karst Region. The breakfast was extremely good. The whole restaurant is on different level.
