Hotel in Achill Sound
Located in Achill Sound, 25 km from Rockfleet Castle, Óstán Oileán Acla provides accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. A truly enchanting stay! The location, nestled amidst sea and mountains, felt like a slice of heaven. The low-hanging clouds added drama to the breathtaking views. The staff were attentive, and breakfast was delightful. The charming bridge just outside was straight out of a fairytale! The photos on Booking site didn’t display the exterior views, which surprised me because that’s the main attraction of this place. I traveled to Achill Island Hotel from the Cliffs of Moher, and the drive through Galway and County Mayo was one of the most scenic routes I’ve experienced in Ireland. County Sligo offers a wealth of activities, making this hotel ideally situated between Mayo, Galway, and Sligo for exploring all these places in just two to three days.

Dooagh
Spectacular views from the hostel over Achill Island. Jake was very kind and laid-back. The whole accomodation was beautiful and the interior seemed very warm and personalized with photographs, colourful dishes, a record player and vinyl records, 2 cats… The beds were very comfortable and we had a nice view out of our window. Sockets were near the beds. The bathroom was big. Breakfast was great and there was a big selection (cereal, porridge, bread, cheese, ham, milk, yogurt…). The view from the breakfast room is amazing.
The apartment was exceptionally gorgeous...very welcoming, homely, cozy and relaxing... its like home away from home...everything we needed was readily available... the interior decorations are amazing... Carmel had all the details spot on...very well done😃BELLA the dog was the best meet and greet staff ever...Thank you very much for our stay...can't really say enough!! Highly recommended... we will surely stay there again when we go back to Achill island... thank you Carmel and Bella.
Fantastic. What European travel used to be. From the friendly staff to the scenery right outside the door to the history of the house, everything was top notch. Live Irish music on Thursday nights brings people from all over the island. I was the only person staying in one of the hostel rooms in early April, so I'm not sure what it's like during high season, but for me, it was the right mix of quiet and social. Would stay again in a flash. Achill Island is phenomenal.

Friendly staff, fun location, excellent food
Breakfast was very tasty. Good conversations with hosts. We could make ourselves tea/coffee.
lovely little house, spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. Has all the facilities you need. quiet location and short drive to lovely beaches. Perfect for a family break
Great location near a few pubs/restaurants and walks. Host and staff were extremely kind and helpful. Great breakfast. Eco friendly shower.
The property was perfect for our large family - spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The location is ideal if you are looking for a remote getaway on the Wild Atlantic Way - literally on the edge of the world, overlooking the Atlantic. If you are looking for a hiking holiday, Achill is arguably one of the best places in Ireland with several breathtaking hikes all within its self-contained island boundaries. This house in Dooagh is ideally located for many of these, e.g. a 3 minute drive from the isolated beach on Keem Bay (see pic), from which you can hike to the spectacular Achill Head, Croaghaun (highest sea-cliffs in Europe - see pic) and the even more remote Saddle Head and Annagh Beach. It is literally a 2-minute walk across the road to Dooagh's rocky beach which has some of the best breakers on the island. There is a fireplace for a peat turf fire which Our host was amazing - answered all our questions and needs promptly, and was flexible with unexpected arrival delays. Because the house is locally-owned, her local knowledge was very helpful for shopping needs, "off-the-beaten-path" sights we'd have missed, etc. We would definitely go back here again!
