The setting of this place is magnificent. Grand entrance with a road passing through a dense pine forest with a bridge giving you a quick glimpse with the Cuelgamuros Valley & Basilica

Location fantastic and receptionists fantastic, however room was a let down, bed comfy but room very noisy and cramped, decor very tired. TV remote control was filthy caked with food residue. Breakfast service poor no cups for coffee, no glasses for fruit juice and no staff to assist. The price was not inexpensive but the service fell short of being value for money.

beautiful small town, 50 minutes from Madrid.
beautiful small town, 50 minutes from Madrid. We were there late April and the weather was GORGEOUS. The town is set on a hill, and the palce is a dominant feature of the town. Sweet cafes and restaurants, a relaxed feel, friendly locals, a place to sit and watch the world go by.

The monastery was amazing outside but the inside was stupendous. Make time for the tour. You will not regret it.
For me one day and night was enough. We ate at Bar los Mariscos and the food was amazing. They also had an English menu which was a great help to two people with zero Spanish.🙃When we tried to order 5 tapas dishes the waiter told us that would be way too much and advised us to start wit 3. He was totally right. Not a luxurious place but filled with Spanish people eating ( (always a good sign)

Wow! What a wonderful place!
Wow! What a wonderful place! Fernando is so amazing with all the minor details. I was so impressed with all the details he thought of. As we arrived there was a fruit basket, a bottle of cava, plenty of coffee pods, water bottles in the refrigerator, etc.
The place is cozy and warm with stunning views of the mountains! I highly recommend a nice visit to the countryside at this loft!

San Lorenzo de el Escorial is a nice small city with plenty of restaurants (we stayed at hotel Victoria Palace and 150 mts from the hotel we had dinner in a very nice Italian restaurant, recommended by the hotel).
The monastery is very impressive, Free of charge to visit for EU citizens on wednesday and thursday from 17.00 until 20.00 hours. You need about 2 hours to visit the monastery and gardens (lots of staircases).
Avila is also nice (about 50 minutes by car) to stay 1/2 a day do not forget to walk on the city walls which is very impressive.

Incredible monument, so much to see, and a real chance to get an idea of the problems of Phillip the Second trying to control the Armada from this remote location as it was then. Research Escorial before you go so that you don't miss anything. Also you must visit the Valley of The Fallen, built by prisoners of the Civil War, and now housing Franco's grave. The whole building cut into the hillside, it is unique.

The personal "touch" lent to your stay at Posada Don Jaime by owner Ignacio, puts the experience "over the top"! Besides being a wealth of information concerning El Escorial and the surrounding area (in my case hiking information), his attention to detail and apparent devotion to serving his clients is an undeniable asset to his hotel. Reasonable pricing, location and availability of secure parking at a reasonable price were factors in my choice of Posada Don Jaime, and proved to be an excellent choice.
I was in San Lorenzo de El Escorial to attend a week-long seminar and ended up opting to stay here instead of at the hotel that was being offered as part of the package deal, because I kind of fell in love with the place. I'm pretty sure I made the right decision: The relatively spacious, well-apportioned suite definitely made for a much more comfortable stay than some of the tiny Spanish rooms where I've spent nights in the past (not to mention what it probably would've been like at the other hotel).
The location is excellent. Room with a view to the
Monastery. The room was sufficiently spacious. Bathroom was modern and large. Staff was helpful and friendly. Reservation included breakfast which was adequate (no scrambled eggs for American tourists but that’s normal in most Spanish hotels).
On the whole, I highly recommend this hotel. I’m attaching photo taken from the room.
The apartment was beautiful with a lot of light and clean. Kitchen was well equipped and the bed was really comfortable. The view from the balcony of he Monastery was spectacular which my husband especially loved having been born and raised in beautiful San Lorenzo de El Escorial. We really enjoyed our stay.
The staff was super friendly and attentive. Great communication, as they let us know in advance that due to local festivities we could have some issues with noise, since the hotel is right across the monastery (where they set up concerts). Excellent location, good cost per value. Shout out to the night staff!
An amazing place to be at
The hotel/building is interesting
The peace is absolute
Surrounding area is beautiful an perfect for hiking
And the views at the Cross are endless
The rooms may be called simple...but speaking for myself, I went there for something else than the furniture...
I reccommend
It's a small friendly hotel located in the historic centre. Great to have the option of secure parking as the historic centre is always busy.
Some really nice restaurants within walking distance. The owner and staff made this a very pleasant stay and would recommend it to others.
Although a large hotel it had a "family atmosphere" and the welcome on the front desk was warm and welcoming. Everywhere was spotless , including the car park, and the food was very tasty and excellent value, we all said that we would stay here again.
The hotel is right in the center of town. Many of the sights, restaurants, and shops are within a few steps to a few blocks. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure I had a pleasant stay.
This is a perfectly decent hotel, with a clean room (no air con), but it is basic. We weren't offered breakfast so had it elsewhere. Don't expect luxury but it is very good value for money and the staff were very helpful and polite.
The room was quite big, with a very nice balcony.
Huge, fantastic bed with a very nice variety of pillows.
The room was very quiet and confortable.
Although the hotel doesn't have a parking, they let us park on a reserved place.
Cute little hotel next to the main square. Staff goes out of its way to answer questions, make reservations, and be helpful. Bathrooms are super modern and the king size bed was super comfortable
Good price, nice staff, simple room. Good location, warm inside, beautiful view to the mountain. Nice shower gel. A restaurant downstairs. There's a bus stop close to the hotel
