Beautiful room, comfy bed, very clean everywhere and shower lovely. Nice touches like bottled water was appreciated. Staff on the night I arrived and next morning were lovely and friendly. I thought my stay would be exceptional because of first impressions. I had arrived late due to traffic and was offered a drink free of charge. Breakfast was lovely and it was no issue when I asked to swap items. At this point apart from.being cold in my room I was happy.

The narrow lane access was full of deep potholes.
The narrow lane access was full of deep potholes. There were no signs stating that there was convenient access to rooms from the car park level with suggestions possibly to register first up the flight of stairs (internally there are three flights of steep stairs down to the rooms. Signage would have been helpful). There is nothing near the hotel but water and woods so a car trip down the narrow lane is necessary even for a newspaper. The boutique hotel room was modern and clean with a comfortable bed. Unfortunately there were essential items missing, such as no waste bin in the bedroom, no shelf for toiletries/toothbrush in the bathroom and no grab rail for elderly occupants; in fact the situation was not good for anyone with vertigo or mobility issues. We received family guests for dinner, one meal was unfortunately overcooked so much so that the basic fish and chips meal was refunded. This reflected badly on us as hosts and will not recommend it to others for such a visit.

The hotel was difficult to find because it is actually called The Gurkha Restaurant and there is nothing to show that it’s The Woodcock Inn. I drove past it as the SatNav instructions told us to bear left on Woodcock Hill, when I was already driving SW on that road. Obviously I could not look at my phone whilst driving, so could not see that the road splits around the restaurant and a few other properties.SteveUnited Kingdom

The food and service was exceptional and as located a wee way from other amenities a cheeky stayover is well worth it if you didn't want to drive. This is a hotel/restaurant on the A22 so expect traffic noise. Hotel room was clean and came with teas and coffee and brekkie snacks. We were greeted by friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is in a lovely position right by a large lake. We had a decent dinner in the restaurant. The room was comfortable and clean. We were up again at 4am, too early for breakfast.

Rather than travel to Gatwick / Cophall airport long term parking, on the day of departure we opted to stay overnight, and have a more relaxed start to our holiday.
