I like to cycle and I got lucky with the pleasant weather. I hired a bike and went to Sárospatak. On my way I could visit several small villages, some of them along the river Bodrog, really very picturesque.
I don't drink wine but of course Tokaj is the center of its' famous (sweet) wines, and several 'pince' are present to let you taste those wines.

Tokaj is at least regionally famous for its wine and ambience. The town itself is really two parts, one interesting and older and resembling a Mediterranean seaside locale (tourists, entertainment) and one more for the locals (houses/blocks). Tokaj might be more globally well-known (and visited) if it were more accessible from Western Europe and the US but as it stands, it's also not overrun and yet still offers a lot to see and do for a weekend trip. A car, though, is mandatory as most of the attractions outside of the town itself are at least 20-60 minutes away (especially the wineries). Also, communication in English in shops and restaurants in the town itself is nearly non-existent as are real vegetarian (not fish) options. Quite odd for such a high-quality wine region. I would expect all of that to change in time, but for now, the experience is one of visiting a completely foreign location. That's good but also different. All the Hungarians we met were exceptionally hospitable, patient and helpful, so even language was no problem. Besides wine (and admittedly, it's most of the reason to be there), other activities include boat and rafting trips, lovely walks in the surrounding hills, and eating, food from fast to fancy. There's a little sightseeing train that has a refreshingly thorough route and a few hotels with pools or spa options available to non-guests. Overall, Tokaj is a great weekender or part of a longer regional trip.

This UNESCO world heritage town deserves a visit, of course, for his excellent wineries in a pastorale environment.
There are a few good restaurants but not really international food.
Seems to be nice for biking, hiking and kayaking - we had no time for this.

An amazing place, one of the most unique wine regions in the world. Tourism is not very developed, which is great on one end, but on the other had one really needs to plan well. Too much to see and explore in the entire region, need more time.
Will definitely return.
Outstanding little apartment in the heart of Tokaj. Extremely clean and modern, Although we did not cook for the one evening we were there, we would have been able to with the items provided. Although it was an extremely hot day, the Air Conditioning worked beautifully. Nice little garden seating area in the back yard of the property. Good value for the money. Restaurants and wineries within an easy walk. I would definitely recommend.
The location is really good, a walk from the train staion within 10 minutes.
The staff are really nice. Our train was delayed and I arrived after the check-in time listed on the hotel rules, the staff are still there waiting for us. (We called beforehand about the delay)
The room is air-conditioned, well cleaned and the bed mattresses are firm which is my preference.
The breakfast is decent. The dining area is comfortable.
Good location, nice and clean facilities, small but friendly wellness, good breakfast, enough packing place and power sockets in rooms, big balcony, helpful staff, free parking and wifi, well-equipped minibar. Useful cultural stuff in the lobby (tourist guide booklets, sometimes free tickets for events etc.). I like the garden terrace next to the dining room.
We were greeted with a glass of fine wine and the host helped us with our luggage.
Location is very nice (still Tokaj is a small town), we had a room with common terrace with a view.
Breakfast was cheap, nice and served in a wine cellar (which was a really nice experience).
Car park is small indeed, but it wasn't a problem to park a car.
Very kind service! Ms. Judith speaks English very well and her hospitality is significantly enriched with bottle of wine, which is being served for guests as welcome-drink. Absolutely lovely place and affordable! Parking is free of charge and location in the centre of Tokaj. Can't wait to come back one day.
The accomodation was spotless clean, newly renovated, the matrass in the bed we even checked we should buy one like this :) Kitchen is well equipped and the stuff is really kind. Walking distance from the center in Tokaj. We would definitely come back next time when we are in the area.
The setting was relaxing and pleasant. Plenty of space and very comfortable. We walked to most places around town: the city square, restaurants, and wine cellars. The river is right behind the property and has a wonderful walking path. Great espresso maker in the kitchen.
The hotel was beautiful and luxurious. Attention to detail was incredible. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient- special thanks to Viktor and Attila. Food was excellent in quality and variety. The Wellness centre was delightful.
If you are staying in Tokaj there is no need to look any further for a place to stay. Close to the town center and in a quiet location. Dora and Peter speak fluent English (if that is helpful for you, it was for us). Comfortable and clean.
Hotel design is outstanding - a pleasure for eyes and soul. Breakfasts and dinners were tasty. Personnel are very friendly and helpful.
Wellness is not so big but also beautiful, with very warm pool and 2 saunas.
The staff were very friendly, hard working, and attentive. Perfect location in the center of Tokaj. Good kitchen, particularly for breakfast and dinner. Be sure to try their own wines.
absolutely perfect place! in the center of Tokaj so you can observe all around you. the design of the hotel is matching with the atmosphere of Tokaj. clean, comfortable and nice
