Hosts are very nice and helpful.
Breakfasts are also fantastic!
Our room was small but clean and comfortable.

I loved the location, even though it's not right in the center of something, it is close enough to Killarney, the ring of Kerry, or the Dingle peninsula. The family is very sweet and welcomed us warmly. Even offered a breakfast in the morning!

I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s).
I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s). However, please note that this is all in a small hamlet called Boolteens, which is about 3 miles from Castlemaine, so you don't need to visit the latter!

I noticed the host had dried out another family's coats for them (yes, it was raining!). She was very welcoming.
The B & B was all you would hope for, and to top it, the restaurant/bar next door was great for food and relaxing in. (And, there's another bar over the road for Sky sports if you want to bet on a horse!)
Castlemaine has a statue of The Wild Colonial Boy.

We visited Tralee a few times and we were delighted with the places we ate. We had a lovely meal in both La Scala and Yummy. We also went to Camp, Castlegregory and visited The Maharees. We found our way home through the Connor Pass. The views were breath taking.

This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland.
This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland. Willie can't be matched for his knowledge of Ireland and hilarious stories. He is the epitome of a gracious Irishman and host. Our stay at Castlemaine was a great experience. People everywhere we went in the area were very friendly and helpful. Nearby Cobn was colorful and interesting. Dinner in the Commodore Hotel bar was delicious. More places to visit than we could squeeze in with two days.

Castlemaine is only a very small village but it has a couple of pubs in the village and two more at only a short distance away - all have food available. There is petrol available just outside the village.
It is ideally situated for access to the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry, yet just off the beaten track so you can feel relaxed coming back in the evening. It doesn't have big tourist pubs etc etc and is a quiet village.
If you are looking to relax after a busy day sightseeing it's perfect.
If you are looking for a busy centre with shops, touristy type stuff, music and entertainment until the early hours, you need to try Dingle.
Was a great off the beaten trail location for a rest stop on our long journey around ireland.
The heated blankets were a great touch! The bed was super comfortable. I was traveling with a friend, and we shared a bed, which was fine. I figure this would be a great spot for a couple! It was very cozy, clean, spacious, and the owners are super pleasant.
Breakfast was great, John sat with us, and we chatted while we ate a full irish and had coffee.
Felt like a really safe space.
Close to a pub and gas station.
Catriona was so lovely, friendly, and really helpful. She facilitated a late check in for us, made sure we had everything we needed for the night, and had simple breakfast options available for us to take ourselves whenever we wanted breakfast (toast, tea, cereal, self-service). Having a car is essential for really travelling in Kerry. This place is close to a town with all essentials and well situated for exploring the beautiful countryside. We'll stay again. Thanks Catriona!
We stayed two days in Alderwood house with my partner and it was a wonderful experience. We were in our own private wing in the house with a big bedroom, a bathroom and a separate livingroom with free netflix! Tim prepared us an amazing breakfast and he even brought us cookies prepared by his daughter in the evening. He helped us with anything we needed (indications, the plug adaptator I forgot...). I would definetly recomend this B&B over any hotel or other B&B in the zone.
I liked pretty much everything. From the view, the garden, the horses that Mr. Jimmy was breeding. But if there one thing I loved about this hotel , it was the kindness that Mr. Jimmy and his wife Mrs. Bernadette.
They were absolutely kind to us. They really cared about our stay. They cared how we were planning the holiday.
I remember how Mr. jimmy came to us voluntarily to talk with us. To be sure that we are enjoying our stay.
Thank you for hospitality. We loved it .
A great base to explore the Dingle Peninsula, Killarney or Tralee. The breakfast is fab cooked by Tim who is an amazing host who goes the extra mile for his guests. He brought me a honey and lemon drink to help soothe a persistent cough. We were in the Mountain suite which has a separate sitting area with a TV and a wide selection of books. Tim had also provided a bottle of wine and some sparkling water in the fridge. I highly recommend a stay at Alderwood House.
Farm house is old but well kept, very charming and fresh decor. Our room was very cozy and had everything we needed to rest and be ready for our next day. I especially liked the ability to control the temperature of our room as we arrived soaking wet. Breakfast was home cooked, made to order and delicious. The town is very small, but the pubs are perfect for dinner.
Perfect location quite handy, between Dingle peninsula and Ring of Kerry. The pub below offers several possibilities for a dinner. The room is average, but everything is very clean. The carpark is in the from of the property. The owner is very friendly, and she gave us brilliant tips for the next day. Very good value for money.
Great accommodation! Myra is a great host. We stayed one night at the house on the way to Dingle, the location is perfect, small village but there is a nice pub just beside the house. The beds are very comfortable and ALL of them have a heater blanket on the mattress which is great for the cold nights 😊
quiet area to relax. perfect location to do Dingle Pass and Ring of Kerry. Hosts was very accommodating. made fresh brown bread which was left for us at check in. Made tarts fresh and again gave us a couple. Very accommodating! Would book again next time we are in Ireland!
I loved the family who took such good care of us. I especially loved having you Mrs.Murphy greet us at the door. I stayed there 35 years ago and she was our greeter then as well. The house has been renovated perfectly and we love the area also.
Beautiful rooms, very comfortable. Lovely host, made our stay very comfortable and relaxing. Amazing value for the 2 nights stay we had, definitely reccomment staying here, I know we will be every time we're in Kerry.
Excellent place, spotless, very well equipped, comfortable , great location for exploring Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. Superb communication from hosts. Easy checkin and out. Looking forward to returning
A really comfortable house. Well equipped kitchen with washing machine and dryer. Private car parking/garden, ideal for evening BBQ! Great location for touring both Dingle Peninsula and Ring of Kerry.
Host was lovely and welcoming. While Castlemaine is a quiet town being so close to Dingle, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry is a big plus if you are travelling by car.
Nice comfortable house, all essentials provided. Great location for exploring Kerry. Loved the off street secure parking, lovely pub restaurant in walking distance.
Murray's Mountain View is in a beautiful location outside Castlemaine. We had a lovely spacious room, were very comfortable and had a great night's sleep.
