The property was very spacious, surroundings was gorgeous and it is only a 10 minute walk from the town. If you don’t like walking we were giving taxi numbers when we arrived but you honestly won’t need to.

Beautiful little cottage just outside Omeath Town, close to Carlingford and the Six Counties. The hosts were lovely, both came to introduce themselves and check we had everything, and Catriona kindly baked us some homemade wheaten bread and provided homemade jam; a lovely Irish touch.
The property is secure with CCTV so you can feel safe, and has good privacy from the main hosts’ house - once they introduce themselves, they make clear you can come over at any time for what you need and then leave you to it!
We were able to cook a lovely meal with the fully equipped kitchen, and had the wood burner and fairy lights on for atmosphere. Irish books, Irish language content and board games provided.
Massive room complete with en suite and spare bathroom. Shower pressure was lovely and the cottage was heated. Iron provided (normally a peeve of mine if not), hot water bottle, washing machine, clothes horse and so much more. The hosts also compiled a really informative guide on everything you need to know.
If you’re visiting Carlingford or the Mournes gate away into the North, you need to stay here…

A little village right on Carlingford Lough with views across to the mountains and down the firth. Very well-equipped petrol station shop and a number of other stores plus a post office. Only 5or so miles from Carlingford and the same to Newry over the border, and mountain roads going up Slieve Foy from the village. A convenient well-located little town.

Everything was beautifully prepared for us, plus an unexpected and very generous welcome pack. Also some helpful supplies such as salt and pepper, oil etc
The surrounding area is beautiful with many diverse activities jaunts possible. Including a coastal walk to Carlingford.
I had not noticed when booking that there was no wifi, but in the end that turned out to a good (enforced) break from the iPad...! However others might feel bereft, especially if staying for longer.... Therefore it might be a good precaution to point out 'No wifi' on the accommodation info.
We were 4 adults, 2 elderly, and felt a bit of pressure at times with there being only one toilet, which was in the bath/shower room. This could be more of a problem if there were 6 adults who are not close family...?
But, for us, a wonderful holiday stay - thank you
