There were regular messages before arrival, via booking.com, with information and staff responded quickly to any questions. We stayed in a Shepherd's Hut and it was exactly like the pictures. The bed was a good size. Very clean. The views are spectacular. Although you might not see staff, there is a mobile phone number given to residents, in case of any issues.
Kitchen is communal, great for people who like to mix with other people. There is a good size sink just outside the kitchen, with washing up liquid, cloths and tea towels provided. It is a working farm, we were able to see their pigs, on the way to a walk next to the nearby stream. The stream walk (Ramparts Walk) is very pretty, either walk along it, to get into town, or cross over the road for a longer walk.
BE AWARE the shower room and toilets are communal. This is not an issue, there are doors.
We hope to come back again next year.

Our host, Donal, was fantastic. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Donal made excellent suggestions to what to do and how to get there. Bonus was a great breakfast before we left. Thank you so much for your extraordinary hospitality. Kelly and Tom

We came to Slane from the UK for a family wedding and were looking forward to visiting the area as well. However we were very unfortunate with our choice of accommodation and it became essential for us to find an alternative after one night. The help and care given by the staff of The Conyngham Arms Hotel who came to the rescue of four desperately unhappy elderly visitors to Slane was exceptional. Following a very distressing experience with the owner of a local B&B in Slane, namely Forest Hills Lodge (a H&S nightmare) the staff at the Conyngham Arms were all, without exception, the best examples of true Irish Hospitality and restored our spirits so we could enjoy the wedding and the rest of our stay in Ireland. We couldn't thank them enough and would definitely recommend this hotel.

lovely place, perfect for a visit to Boyne Valley because it’s in its middle , near Brú na Boinne and all other attractions. AndI was lucky to run into Gerry, a very nice taxi driver who took me everywhere for a fair price. Ask at the Tourist information office, where people are very helpful too.

Great location to tour the 'Sacred' capital of Ireland the seat of the ancient High Kings. More readily accessible information on ancient myth, legend, history and archaeology of the area would be great.

Slane Castle is well worth a visit, especially if you do the tour. The castle also has a distillery for those who enjoy whiskey. The Hill of Slane is very historic - where St Patrick lit the fire and brought Christianity to Ireland. It's best to have a car available as there are several important historical places nearby such as where the Battle of the Boyne was fought. Good maps for both the walking tour of the village and a car tour of the wider area are available free at 'The Hub' Tourist Office at the main crossroads, so go there first.
There's a restaurant at the castle, although it's a bit expensive, and several pubs and eateries in the village at more reasonable prices.
This is a beautiful and comfortable apartment attached to their house but completely separate. It is on a quiet lane surrounded by farms and other estates. It has a complete kitchen and they left us with an abundance of food to make a breakfast, including eggs, cheese, milk and orange juice in the refrig. There was bread, butter, jam, oatmeal and more snacks than we could ever eat! The hosts greeted us when we arrived and were so helpful. We thought the location was perfect to visit the stone age ruins in the area.
The room was quite small, with a nice comfortable bed. The bathroom was good with an excellent shower. Breakfast was served in the Conyngham Arms Hotel and was good with a nice variety of hot cooked options. We had dinner there also which was very good. I must congratulate the Old Post Office for being one of the very few Hotels I have stayed in in recent years that actually supply proper sized bath towels, well done as it's a major bugbear of mine
Location was a plus for me. Very close proximity to Slane Castle and Slane Distillery which I would recommend. New Grange neolithic site is a few kilometers away. Nice pub a few doors down to catch futbol and a pint. The hotel restaurant dinner was very good. Breakfast as well. Really enjoyed my stay. It is an older hotel property, but very well maintained and clean. Staff were very cordial and very helpful.
The surroundings are absolutely beautiful. Especially as we were there in Autumn. The couple who own the house are wonderful and so helpful. Great location near to points of interests like Slane Castle, Hill of Slane, Newgrange etc. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Fresh, organic everything. The only downfall was lack of hot water in shower and no wifi but minor details considering the rest.
Great location, off the beaten track in Townley Woods. A short walk through the woods to Townley Hall, an old Irish stately home currently hosting Philosophy and Economic Studies and Retreats from Trinity College Dublin. Also some lovely goats.
15 minutes drive from Newgrange which was our main reason for booking. Good facilities, comfortable beds. Didn't disappoint. Would recommend.
The attached pub was very good. Pub food but high quality. In the hotel part (I think they have 6 rooms), there is a communal full kitchen, dining room, and large living room provided on the first floor. They also provided basic breakfast foods including cereal and milk. Very nice staff. The wait staff at the pub were wonderful.
Beautiful property and extremely clean with all the comforts of home.
The attention to detail as in the photo's was amazing and the owners are lovely people.
Highly recommended if you are touring the area or visiting nearby Tankardstown House as we were and Sandra even gave us a lift there.
We shall return.
The location is amazing. Not too much around it is a small town but very quaint. The place was very nice and the host even made an appointment at a local restaurant when he knew we were coming in late. Otherwise we would not have had dinner. I highly recommend it. There is a castle right up the road.
We had a wonderful experience at Rock Farm. The setting was gorgeous, the kitchen and seating areas are well equipped, roomy, and comfortable, and the showers and bathrooms are luxurious. The Apple cabin was super sweet and cozy too! Couldn’t have asked for more.
Lovely area. Quiet, peaceful. Great location for seeing sights around Boyne Valley. Apartment was comfortable, just right for our family of 4. Nice to have 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen, living room — all for the price of a single decent hotel room.
Had booked the property to attend a wedding at slane castle. The property was clean comfortable and had everything we needed. The property owner went above and beyond to make us comfortable and even gave us a lift to the wedding. Absolutely perfect
I loved the fact that it wasn’t just a sterile hotel room but rather a cozy apartment where we could stretch out and relax. Close proximity to many things and places. Spotlessly clean. Excellent service provided by y the owners.
Near Slane Castle and town. The hostel cottage room was better than expected with a kitchen and living area! Owners very accommodating and the rooms are beautiful way to incorporate family property into a business!
Location was great. I was staying in Slane for a wedding and was able to walk from the hotel to the wedding venue. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was clean and cosy.
it’s a tiny but very lovely place. basically an extension of the Hotel across the street where you also do the Checkin and get the amazing breakfast. it was impeccable clean and tidy!
Location was amazing, so close to Slane Castle. Plenty of beds in the cottage, comfortable, cosy and had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
