Super convenient location with stunning views, this little gem of a place is not to be missed. The beds were comfortable and made up with crisp linens. The kitchen was well appointed and even had coffee. But the very best part was the giant wall of windows that overlooked the expansive surrounds! Please go and stay at Asta and Filips place, you won't be disappointed!

The room was very comfortable and large. Nice amenities, such as dishes and mini fridge. Although, there is a notice that if you don’t wash your dishes, you will be charged a fee. Had to pay for breakfast, which was a little disappointing. So I chose not to eat there. The coffee in the room was decent. The bathroom was big enough; some are so micro sized, it’s difficult to maneuver comfortably.

Breakfast was delicious! The Lobby bar was our favorite. Staff there were very friendly and taught us about Icelandic gin and vodka! That was fun! Valet parking was a breeze and the front desk 100% there for all our needs! The Easter egg delivered to our room was a class act and very yummy too! Thank you for that!

The breakfast was a strong feature of this hotel. The coffee could have been better and pastries are luck of the draw. The day we got pastries from the bakery was great but generally the pastries were poor.
The Guðlaug hot tub on the beach is a 'must-visit'.
The Guðlaug hot tub on the beach is a 'must-visit'. If the outdoor location is a bit wild for you, it is also situated right next to the sports centre which has a heated pool.
Also; whilst I drove through the tunnel to get to Akranes, I recommend using the scenic route to get back. It does add a bit of time to your journey, but the landscape and scenery is fantastic.

Very nice small town, in 40 min from Reykjavik and near to many attractions in Snaefellsnes Peninsula in Iceland, so it's perfect location to visit many interesting places around.
The place to be in Akranes, for sure is a Lighthouse, since 1944, unique in Iceland which is possible to visit inside, climbing to the top. From the top you can see a beautiful panorama of 360° , this wonderful and romantic place offer some exhibitions and local music concerts.
Climbe the Lighthouse!
After climbing Lighthouse, may be you will be a little bit hungry, so have a nice lucnh or a dinner in Gamla Kaupfélagið can be very good idea. Very nice ambience, good local foog and local beer.
Enjoy Akranes in every season!

Akranes is some distance from Reykjavik, maybe an hours...
Akranes is some distance from Reykjavik, maybe an hours drive through a 6 km underground tunnel or 2 hours around the coast road. Don’t be put off though - the coast road leads through stunning views, there’s no delays or queues, its well maintained and passable in extreme weather- it’s a fantastic journey in itself. I wouldn’t say that public transport is particularly good though. There are no trains and buses are infrequent
Akranes itself is a quiet residential area with an interesting fishing history. There are a few grocery stores, at least one open till late and the local pool is decent, maybe not to the standard of some of the other local spas and pools nearer the capital, but certainly better than Council facilities where I live.

Quaint little seaside town with some interesting history. There are limited dining opportunities but
Gamla Kaupfélagið is quite good with fresh local caught seafood dishes that will surely please. Drive the tunnel under the bay but don't miss the drive around bay on Hwy 47.

Lovely town and great base to explore the beautiful Western Region of Iceland. Also easy access to Reykjavík. Good cinema (Biohollin), lovely new restaurant (Gamla Kaupfélagiðand) and a documentary film festival (IceDocs) in mid-July. A trip to the hot pool by the football stadium and the lighthouse are highly recommended.
Really nice structure, for us it was a perfect one night stay on our way back to Reykjavik!
Kitchen and dining area were big clean and provided with all the tools you need (only colander was missing but we noticed that it is a common fact in Iceland's structures ahah).
Rooms were big and clean, the same for the bathrooms.
Quality/price ratio was super, couldn't ask for more.
We stayed here on our first night in Iceland and it was perfect. The couple who run the place could not be nicer, what a nice welcome. The shared living area and kitchen feel just like home, and the fridge was even stocked with a few things for breakfast. Before taking off in the morning we took a nice walk to the lighthouse and climbed it, what a treat.
Very comfortable, nice bed, great couch for lounging, kitchen had good set of basic supplies. Bought food from the grocery store in town. Very sweet and friendly dog. Easy check-in instructions provided. Absolutely beautiful view in all directions. Saw a double rainbow right before midnight—amazing! Great launching point for driving around west Iceland.
The location was fantastic for northern lights, the cottage was nice and clean, the beds were double size bunk beds, the kitchen had everything you need, absolutely fantastic stay we had no bother from anything or anyone. Only 6mins drive to a super market and petrol !! Will definitely stay and recommend again and again. I love Iceland 🇮🇸
Thankyou !
Everything about this Cabin and location was just perfect. I have been to Iceland many times and it can be hard to find a property like this. If you want to get away from it all to relax and explore Iceland's West and South West then this is the perfect location.
The hosts were amazing to deal with as well. I would definitely book this property again.
Coffee and tea all day in the kitchen. Big kitchen, too, and a large sitting room. Self checkin was super easy, and the location was great. Excellent value for Iceland, one of the best I found in the entire country. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you need a place to crash within a few hours of Reykjavik.
The property was more than we expected - we wished we could have spent more time there! The hosts are very kind and a accommodating and let us borrow their bikes to explore Akranes. Because of Covid we had the entire property to ourselves. This would be great for a family looking for a vase near Reykjavik.
it central to Akranes and compared to most other accommodation, it had breakfast included but the one thing that added to the value of the property was the hospitality we received from the host. this was absolutely phenomenal and we highly recommend this to anyone visiting Iceland / Akranes
This was the cheapest accommodation that I could find in my whole treap in Iceland. Although very cheap, you get everything you expect, no bad surprises. Perfect location for our last night on the counter clock wise ring trip. Late checking allowed.
Our favorite stay in iceland! The house is cute, cozy and very well-furnished. The kitchen is well-equipped.
Everything was true to the pictures. Overall, We had a wonderful night here and would definitely come back if we visited Iceland again!
A lovely place to stay on our last night in Iceland. Nice layout of the living spaces with interesting books about the local area. A great evening spent with my family. I would have loved to have spent more time there.
room is clean,quite.
the hosts are very nice, and tell us many usefull information of traveling iceland.
the location is very good is see aurola, and that night we stay we saw aurola luckly.
Perfect escape! Super helpful and kind hosting. Equally good location for family or adults, off the beaten track but near enough for exploring the west of Iceland.
basic guesthouse stay - no breakfast, but as I was leaving early for the aiport that didn't matter. Very confortable room in a nice location outside Akranes
