Great set-up, great hosts, facilities great for families (we got an en-suite room and I'm glad we did that).
Great free coffee and well-equipped kitchen! Also appreciated the fridge in the room.
The owners mum was around most days and she was so helpful (we stayed about 6 days).
Finally - we saw the northern lights too!
Located in Varmahlíd in north Iceland, this hotel is just off the scenic Ring Road.

We were given a room on the third floor, thankfully there was a lift. The room was spacious, bed was comfy.
Breakfast was varied and plenty of it.

This is my second time staying here and I will be coming back again. Amazing place to stay. Surrounded by mountains and a going for a swim/soak outside is just wonderful. Having a small kitchen area to cook is a real bonus too.

There wasn't a single thing wrong. From the place, to the location, the host, avaliable conveniences while being isolated to relax.
The pool outside brings everything to an 11. Enjoying the warmth with the cold outside while gazing at the stars, just what the doctor ordered.

Bad experience with the Bakkaflöt Guesthouse.
Bad experience with the Bakkaflöt Guesthouse.
We updated our arrival time, but the hotel did not give a reply. During check in, we showed our reservation letter to a elder staff, but she said no:( and was not friendly. They did also not inform us gate will be closed and the room key can't open the gate!. Because of puncture, we came back to the hotel around 1 o'clock in the morning and the gate was closed. We have to call the staff. Fortunately, that elder staff came to open the gate, but she seemed unhappy and blamed us when we check out.

It’s perfect for a family trip around Iceland.
It’s perfect for a family trip around Iceland. We stay here for five nights. While we were here we rested from our trip around the South. After a resting day we visited the North attractions such as Dettiffos, Godaffos, Myvatn, Grettislaug, and we even managed to visit Grimsey.

Beautiful valley surrounded by mountains and very close to the sea. Rural setting with restaurants and groceries a short drive away. I must return for a longer visit someday. Do not miss Grettislaug, Glaumbaer and dinner at KK Restaurant in Saudárkrókur. Still much to explore.
The stay at our hosts' house was wonderful, the best we had during our week-long trip around Iceland. Their house was large, clean, warm and perfectly decorated. There was a breathtaking view from the windows. We also had a hot tub to use, from which we admired the Northern Lights. The hosts made sure our stay was enjoyable 🤍 We are delighted and highly recommend staying at Freyja's and Palli's house.
Very comfortable, very clean and well-appointed rooms. There is a spacious and well-supplied kitchen for guests to use. Location is great for access to outdoor activities in this part of north Iceland, and the Glaumbaer homestead/museum is just a few hundred meters down the road. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Everything exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend.
Amazing 360-degree view!
This was the best accommodation we had in Iceland, simply perfect.
We loved the design of the small apartment on the upper floor and I could discover something interesting about local photographers thanks to the photography books available there.
You can walk around the farm and get closer to the animals roaming there.
It was self catering but we cooked a evening meal and then a cooked breakfast the next day. We lingered as long as we could - didnt want to leave. this is a property that deserves a 2 or 3 day stay to relax and go out hiking in the day time. We would go back again for longer if visiting iceland again.
Dinner at the restaurant was exceptional. My wife and I both had their Cod dish that was absolutely fantastic. In addition, my wife has several food allergies and they were able to prepare the dish to meet her needs. Price was very good and the service was definitely 5 stars.
Everything!
1. Super clean
2. They are the few hotels/lodging that provided kettle tea/coffee.
3. Love the exclusivity, peacefulness as only 3 rooms
4. Love their dog! Snorti was the highlight, he waswelcoming n friendly
5. The lady owner was friendly and accommodating too
A comfortable and unpretentious hotel with great views across Skagafjordur. A convenient stop on the Ring Road between Reykjavik and Akureyri, and a good base for touring this beautiful area in the summer months. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast.
Host is very friendly and helpful. She also informed us in advance about lack of restaurants nearby, so we made sure to have dinner prior to arrival. Coffee was great, as was having a fridge with some food provided (since no meal plan possible at Midsitja).
So new and fresh with the latest modeling design. Well equipped with nice details everywhere. Feel like home. The host is always very responsive with messages and waited for our arrival to show us around. Top notch among our ring road lodging to Iceland.
Accommodation well appointed. Shower and bathroom facilities nice and clean. Plenty of seating areas. Slightly out of the way if you were not wanting to prepare your own lunch/dinner but neighbouring campsite has a restaurant and town a short drive.
We stayed here 1 night during the Iceland Ring Road trip. The host was very friendly, very quick to respond, and gave us ideas to do things around the property, and also showed us their horses, which was a wonderful experience.
This is one of the best place we stayed in during our trip in Iceland.
The cabin is isolated so very calm, it is new, very clean and well equipped.
It feels very homy. The owners were very nice.
We totally recommend this place.
Absolutely loved this place, the cabin had everything you wanted and was perfect for us two couples! The natural hot spring outside was a bonus and we had the most amazing view of the northern lights
Perfect for our one night stay during our road trip around the island.
The owners were very nice and friendly, the house is surrounded by magnificent Icelandic horse bred by the house owners.
Having the hot tub with the natural hot spring water was the seller. I loved soaking in at the end of the day. The fridge was well-stocked. The place was worth it.
The location of the property is beautiful. The staff was relatively friendly/helpful. Nice restaurant on-site and the pool/hot tubs were also a nice amenity.
