San Gimignano is a place to see after the tour parties have departed and before they arrive next morning. La Cisterna is a beautifully located hotel in which to base yourself. Great restaurant with fine views, likewise excellent breakfast in a dining room with a view.

The receptionists were very nice and vey helpful in guiding local attractions.
We arrived at around 20:30, and we had a very pleasant dinner in the restaurant. The foods were perfectly prepared, definitively deserve a 10/10!
It was the first night for us staying in the Tuscany region. The room was not extremely large, but big enough and cozy for a good stay. Everything including the bathroom were clean and well equipped. We really appreciated the countryside atmosphere of the Hotel.
The breakfast next morning was also great: Nice coffee, cold meat and cheese plater, cereals, juices, fresh fruits, yogurts, breads, cakes, and even a full selection of plant-based milks! (Although personally I like ordinary fresh milk better)
We did not have the opportunity to take some leisure in their pool, but we did enjoyed a lunch at the bar after we've checked out. The burger we had was awesome!!
Located in the centre of San Gimignano, Hotel Bel Soggiorno offers large rooms and an on-site restaurant serving typical Tuscan dishes. The Chianti wine area is just 20 km away.

The staff was fantastic and the view phenomenal. It's all about location. The room itself was good and the water hot. Good wifi inside. The town close by, San Gimigiano (sp) was amazing and worth visiting. Once you did make it down to the winery I had a blast! The wine tasting was the best I've ever done.
Originally a Franciscan convent built in 1587, Hotel La Collegiata is located in the Colli Seneri area, within east reach of mediaeval towns such as San Gimignano and Volterra.

A Tempting Tuscan Sun
San Gimignano, with the Italian sun glistening intently on its 14 remaining towers, cuts a dramatic figure from its position high on a Tuscan hill overlooking vineyards. However, it is when you get up-close-and-personal with this medieval-walled city and crane your neck to the blue sky that you truly appreciate its mesmerising beauty.
If you take away the swarming summer tourists circling the piazzas of San Gimignano, then this city offers you a wonderful trip back in time. The main square, Piazza della Cisterna, is surrounded by Romanesque buildings and Piazza del Duomo features Torre Grossa, the city’s tallest tower.

A trip to Tuscany must include San Gimignano! Highly recommend for its medieval charm, spectacular views and delicious food. It really feels like stepping back in time. It’s not public transport accessible and if you have limited time, hiring a car is the best way to go. Ample public parking is available as well.
We visited around late October so it wasn’t too busy compared to summer time and the weather was perfectly warm during the day and mild around dinner time. Light jacket only. It’s a photographer’s delight as there’s always a scenic opportunity as we turn a corner.
From SG we drove to Siena, another stunning city close by and not to miss! For lunch we were lucky enough to stumble upon a small multi-Routard recommended resto and it seriously did not disappoint. It’s called Osteria Nonna Gina di Lella e Dado. Some of the best pasta we’ve had in Emilia Romagna is here.
Also don’t miss the gelato at Gelateria Dondoli, they’ve won multiple awards and offer unique gelato flavours you really have to try.

If you’re in Tuscany, you have to visit San Giminiano.
If you’re in Tuscany, you have to visit San Giminiano. The city centre has a very special architecture and a lot of small shops and wineries. It’s the perfect place to spend a few days with your spouse. We had a wine tasting at Marronaia Winery, close to the city and we enjoyed it, but next time I would also try another winery, like Tenuta Torciano, which we tried a few months earlier. We ate a fantastic meal at ristorante Fuoriluogo, which I recommend strongly. I recommend staying as close as possible to the city, it’s a nice feeling that you can walk while admiring the sights.

I can't describe it, you have to be there, you have to see this miracle.
I recommend parking lots number 3 and 4, there is always space, the price is reasonable and you only have to walk for a few minutes, and there is also an elevator.

It is one of the most unique destinations in all of Europe.
It is one of the most unique destinations in all of Europe. San Gimignano is a must-visit when in Tuscany. Its medieval appearance whisks you back in time and one can easily transform the tourists to locals bringing their food to market. High-quality restaurants and a world-champion gelateria, what is not to fall in love with. Leave your healed shoes at home and wear comfortable footwear as the streets, side streets and shops are far from smooth, but this is just part of the experience

You can explore the Torre Grossa and a couple of other sites with one pass, there's excellent pasta (you will smell the ragù while you explore in the afternoon!) and aperitivi for just a few euros, plenty of places to cool off with gelato, and the view over Tuscany from the Torre and the Rocca are spectacular.
The town in miniature is also worth your time. And be sure to have a glass of Vernaccia, the local white wine!
The vila is very private oriented on a marvelous estate surrounded by olive trees and yet, within a walking distance of the city of San Gimignano. Of course, there is a little of climbing to do, but that's very normal in this area.
The kind owners live nearby and maintain the swimming pool and garden. Also, in case of advise, they are not far away, but on a safe distance to respect your privacy.
The villa is very well equipped with all the luxury you need in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Beautiful place. Nice design, comfortable room with most necessary appliances. Bathroom was good too.
Great access to San gimignano - with the transport provided. And from the balony you can see the towers of the town. Sunset is unforgettable.
Nice pools but on the another lot across the road at the hotel sovestro area.
Very helpful and accomodating staff, even with unusual requests. We are thankful for making this stay as romantic as possible.

The location was amazing! Close to everything we wanted to see in the Tuscany area, including San Gimignano, Florence, and Volterra. the house is nestled in the country short drive to San Gimignano, surrounded by vineyards, olive trees, and magnificent views! We could see the medieval hill town of San Gimignano from our bedroom window.
Breakfast was a bonus! Carla and her sons were amazing hosts and made us feel so welcome.
Big room, quiet and one of the best views we’ve ever had from a hotel room. Perfect view of the San Gimignano skyline with the vineyards in the foreground. Unforgettable. Breakfast and dinner excellent too especially with the Mormoraia wine! Staff very friendly and helpful. Something as simple as bring your bags to your room and parking your car for you goes such a long way after a long journey. Grazie Mile!
ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED WITH THIS PROPERTY. The property is mindblowingly gorgeous, our apartment atmospheric, and our hosts Umberto and Federica so extremely kind – we had a big group and they were more than accommodating. We highly recommend booking a dinner here, too, as it was a true highlight of our entire time in Italy. It physically pained us to leave this special place – 100/10 experience.
You will not find a better location and comfortable apartment than this in the most beautiful village in Italy. The host Clara gave us just the most amazing welcome and the room is spacious with a very comfortable bed. We were there in February and had the whole medieval village to ourselves (it felt like it😁). This will be an unforgettable stay in Casa Irene and hope we can return one day.
Where do I even begin, from the staff to the facilities, this place was beyond exceptional. Best place we have stayed in during our 2.5 week vacation in Italy. Beautiful family run agriturismo and Fausto and the team were amazing. Breakfast was freshly made everyday by their wonderful baker. Wine tour was excellent and I had some of the best food there. I highly recommend staying here!
Manfredi is the best host we met in all of our month vacation in Italy.
He welcomed us with an explanation of the area and where we should go (first we had in Italy, in the 3 weeks before none of the hotels even cared).
The room was very clean with a nice view.
The breakfast outside was great and fresh with a beautiful view.
Overall really great experience.
This place made my husband and I to look on places for buy in San Gimignano :D
Amazing location, amazing hosts, the sunset is breathtaking, the restaurant is great and the breakfast has all you’d wish for.
I could not recommend a better place to stay in San Gimignano and I hope to go back again.
everything! the view is amazing, location is walkable to town yet peaceful and quiet in the evening. comfortable beds (my best sleep in Italy). Breakfast was perfect. the host were lovely. so helpful, kind and accommodating. they went above and beyond to make our visit memorable.
The best lookation in San Gimignano and an exceptional boutique hotel with breathtaking views from the room and the breakfast area. The staff was super nice and helpful and the room was very well. The dacore all over the hotel add the extra mile to the experience
Beautiful setting, great pool and friendly, helpful staff. Spacious family room with 2 shower rooms. Free shuttle bus to San Gimignano. Lovely dinner in the courtyard. The lady at the bar (I think her name is Giusy) makes the best Aperol Spritz in Italy!!
Amazing place with even more amazing personnel. Great experience at Casanova de Pescille! The beds we're definitely the comfiest we've had in Italy and the restaurant Zafferano was outstanding. Book now, I promise you will not regret!
Brilliant hotel just inside the city walls. The shower was excellent and San Gimignano is fantastic town. The staff were great, really helpful in advising us where to visit in town and the food in the restaurant was excellent.
This place is by far the best that we have stayed in in all of Italy. Tuscany is so gorgeous & this villa was right in the middle of the vineyards. So picturesque, comfy, great host, great linens, wonderful breakfast.
The serene beauty surrounding this place is unreal. Also, the host is extremely kind and informative, served us one of the best breakfasts we have had in italy.
