Interesting castle close to the hotel with good water activities offered on the river. Did not use public transport but had a hire car. The streets in general were well maintained and well signposted so that getting around Jelgava by car was easy.

    I adored the city.

I adored the city. It is a nice mixture of historical sights and nature. The riverside and the island are wonderful and it is really nice to walk in the streets. We came by car and there were a lot of parking places. If you don't wanna walk too much, there are plenty of electric scooters too.

I couldn't say that Jelgava has a lot of attractions (...

I couldn't say that Jelgava has a lot of attractions (especially in winter during Covid, hehe), but for a short visit it was pleasant and entertaining. Ice sculptures served as a main attraction with general city illumination nicely adding to it, while a great steak served in PARKS restaurant did well to make for a complete evening.

Jelgava is an old and beautiful city but with a very young heart, as it hosts the University of Technology and Life Sciences (formerly University of Agriculture) now in the divine Rennaisance building of the old university. Much opportunities for sightseeing and slow enjoyment of the city mood, fine dining, various events like Bread and Milk Festival the next weekend, etc.

Jelgava is a very nice town, has areas that have been well...

Jelgava is a very nice town, has areas that have been well developed and designed to be very sympathetic to the historical hub of the town. We stayed for a week mostly to see family, but also to celebrate the Ligo Ligo weekend. these celebrations were a little muted, to what we had been expecting, but still attended a concert by the river in the new arena, all very pleasant (Only 1 x food & 1 x drinks outlet, not enough for the large numbers in attendance). The town itself is pretty well spread out, so don't go looking for a town center, everything is neighbourly, rather than there being a central hub, so dependent on where you stay, just make sure that most things are close by. Also, being a University town, in the summer months, a lot of people go away, so make sure that you pick your travel times accordingly, As with our visit, we arrived the day of university graduations, so the town became very quite, as the week proceeded. The town is a good alternative to use as a transport hub to Riga. We used the train to go from Jelgava to Riga, simple as can be, runs every hour, takes about 45 minutes each way and is roughly 3 euros plus it runs from Riga back to Jelgava until 11pm, so could be a way of saving on the over priced hotels / apartments in Riga.

Totally everything! We stayed at the hotel during Ice Sculpture Festival in February 2023 and enjoyed our stay in full. The room was very clean and modern, equipped with everything we needed. The breakfast was also nice and varied. The staff was very polite and helpful. We were also truly amazed by the level of services and dishes at the hotel's restaurant. Look forward to repeating our stay in this hotel in summer to enjoy the summer terrace and atmosphere.

A very bright and clean apartment - suited perfectly even for a longer stay (mine was 16 days) with a washing mashing and all the things necessary for cooking a meal. The apartment is perfectly located to access all the sites in Jelgava and its surroundings and many of Jelgava’s restaurants. Most importantly though- the view from the balcony- has to be seen. Would stay again in a heartbeat

Very friendly staff in this family-run hotel in the countryside not far from Jelgava and just off the main road to Riga. Spacious rooms, comfy beds and nice bathrooms. Basic tea/coffee options in the room and a shared kitchen on the first floor. The nearby restaurant has good, filling food for a reasonable price and serves a good breakfast (included with the room).

Comfortable bed, warm and cozy room, big TV. The rooms have a desk for working on a laptop, which I did not find in other hotels. 😎 Good soundproofing in the rooms. There is a kitchen for guests with everything you need. The owner of the hotel happened to be near the airport when I arrived in Riga and brought the hotel for free 😎

Lovely hotel in the Latvian countryside. Close to Jelgava and Riga. Wonderful host and staff. Our room( suite) was comfortable, clean and warm. All the facilities we needed were there. Breakfast served in the restaurant next to hotel was very good. Ample of space in surroundings for a leisurely stroll or play.

Jelgava is an interesting place that probably not many tourists go to, but the palace is quite nice and Hotel Zemgale is reasonably close to it. When I arrived, I had forgotten that breakfast is included, which was a pleasant surprise. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Overall a good deal.

The young lady with braces at the front desk was very lovely and professional. The hotel was exceptionally clean and quiet. The room was perfectly sized for my family, though the temperature was quite warm. Overall, we enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to others.

The apartment is in a good location. Near the Jelgava castle and the island with sand sculptures. Didn't hear any neighbors so the night was very quiet. Easy to check in because the key is in the locker near the doors. No problems to find a parking space. Very nice owner.
