Tons to do and we probably only scratched the surface. Food is excellent and pretty reasonable compared to the UK. It feels a very safe place and extremely relaxed. I would certainly do a return trip. It's still quite British in many ways with old style telephone boxes, letter boxes and they drive on the same (correct!) side of the road as us. We didn't hire a car as you can walk to most places in the city or get ferries, Uber, Bolt etc. I think you can't hire a car over the age of 70 so best to check if that's important. Everyone speaks English.

Valletta one of the most improved cities in Europe.
Valletta one of the most improved cities in Europe. When I first visited many years ago it was dead and run down,. Now vibrant, well maintained and restored, it is a gem. Much of this related to EU membership as many restoration and infrastructure projects funded by EU. So much to see and do. For bars, craft beer buffs should visit Dom at 67 Kapitani, Old Bakery Street - see St Johns Cathedral, stroll in Upper Barrakka Gardens, Eat at the Kings own Band Club in Republic St for authentic delicious local food - or push the boat out a bit at Giannini overlooking Sliema - catch the ferry or local boat to the nearby three citiesrichardUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

We love the architecture of Valletta, the maze of it's...
We love the architecture of Valletta, the maze of it's narrow streets with wonderful quirky shops, bars and restaurants. In some places you can literally feel you have travelled back in time. The history is stunning too, going back to the 14/ 1500's and there are lots of museums to help you research. The Maltese people are some of the friendliest I have ever met and the fact they nearly all have good command of English which is an added bonus ( although it is good to try a few phrases of Maltese!) We have had 4 x 2 week holidays in Valletta and feel we have just scratched the surface of things to see and do. We'll definitely be back!🙂JohnUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Easily walkable and the bus station offered many bus routes to get to other places within Malta at a cheap cost. The architecture is beautiful so would recommend a tour guide the explain some of the background so you can appreciate the history of the city.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

I think 4-5 days is probably about right. We loved the history, the architecture, the public transport system and ferries which made it easy to get about. Beware the ferries are often disrupted if there are high winds which is fairly frequently in April. Don't miss the co - cathedral, the 4pm battery salute, the Lasaris war rooms, Cafe Cordina. There is a great view from the M&S Cafe on the 4th Floor in Sliema. The people are friendly and helpful. I felt very safe.ShelaghUnited Kingdom

The room was large, spacious and comfortable. Appreciated getting 2 bottles of water each day. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and offered good variety. I liked that I could change my choice each day as I was there for 4 nights. Really helpful with keeping my luggage for me after checkout as I had an evening flight. Would recommend!

It's in an excellent location, in the city centre and close to everything you need. Alfredo, the hostess, is very polite and friendly. We had a free early check in and he gave us a better and bigger room with the great view of the port. We were very happy and pleased about our staying in Sally port suites and we hope we come back again in Valletta and of course we will select Sally port again and again for our vacation. Thank you!

It's really spacious, with a kitchen (where you can make some coffee/meals). The balcony we thought it had is a "closed balcony" typical of the maltese architecture, so no smoking on the balcony, but there is a terrace on the top floor with a couple of tables and a great view. We were able to store our luggage until our flight in the afternoon, the host was very polite and helpful, the communication with the host was really good as well.

The main bus station of the city is just 4 minutes walk and also the Fast Ferry Gozo is 5-7 minutes walk. Near by there are many streets with restaurants.
