What a surprise! I came for Göbeklitepe but could have spent days roaming the maze of historic Old Town and the market areas. Unfortunately, all the museums are still closed after last year's earthquakes but there's still a plethora of historic buildings and attractions to enjoy. The local foods were incredible and local people very eager to interact with a visitor - even if only through Google Translate.

Sanliurfa is a large city.
Sanliurfa is a large city. I stayed in the historical center. One day is needed to learn to find your way around, among the nice narrow streets, the larger avenues. As I like walking 10 km per day , I did not make use of taxis and buses. Good shoes are required ! Anyway, taxis are everywhere, and buses are frequent (every 5 minutes ). For walking further away to touristical places like Göbeklitepe, Karahantepe, Harran, Halfeti, etc. : organized tours, buses or private accomodation .
Meals during the day, in many restaurants, or in shopping centers, all cheap, with fresh traditional food. Just not easy to get vegetarian meals, but many recipes are meat free (pide with cheese, or spinach, pizza with vegetables, for example, soups, shepherd's salad...).
season is very important : avoid Sanliurfa in full summer if you don-t like yoo hot ! sme tourists leave the city after 1-2 days because they were not aware of the temepratures... so have a close look to monthly temperature charts before choosing your period .

I'm so glad we added Urfa to our itinerary.
I'm so glad we added Urfa to our itinerary. It was very different from the other places we visited on our trip (Istanbul, Izmir, Göreme, Denizli, Kaş). It felt much more traditional and less cosmopolitan, but the people we interacted with were just as friendly, and we felt just as safe as we had in other parts of the country. There is a lot to see and do in the area. The archaeological museum is not to be missed; standing in their full-sized replica of Göbeklitepe felt magical. We appreciated having a rental car, to be able to drive down to Harran on our own. It seems that there is less English spoken in this part of the country than in Istanbul (e.g. in the restaurants and in the market), so it helps to have the Google Translate app with the Turkish dictionary downloaded ahead of time for offline use.

This is an amazing place.
This is an amazing place. Easy to believe you are close to the cradle of civilisation. Within walking distance you have a large Necropolis, 2 fabulous museums ( the ticket for one gives access to the other ) a great Eastern style bazzar, Abrahams birth cave, holy lake, a castle, Gobekli Tepe and much much more.

The archaeological museum was excellent and the mosaic...
The archaeological museum was excellent and the mosaic museum was also good. The historic Islamic architecture in the centre was very interesting. And the Gobekli Tepe archaeological site outside of town was fascinating.
However, I wouldn’t rate the local food as anything really special.
I was here three nights and loved my stay. The room was comfortable, WiFi worked the whole time, thee was a great hot shower, and truly lovely helpful staff. I recommend this place very highly! The hotel has a private parking lot but *** a warning to drivers- ask the hotel for directions- do not trust your GPS!!! (Google maps sent me down a very narrow pedestrian only street and I got stuck in my rental car omg)
Great location across the Balikli Lake and view to the Castle. Warm staff but with basic or no english, normal for this region, visited mostly by turkish tourists. Hotel was mostly like a museum and as far as i know, it is an original huilding renovated and converted to hotel. As i can see from outside every room is unique and have different location, space and views.
Excellent and very friendly service, newly renovated rooms. The hotel is located in city center, just behind the bazaar streets which gives you a great experience of local culture. Main city attractions are within walking distance. Secure parking is available nearby for 40tl per day. If you plan to visit Urfa, I would definitely recommend to stay in this hotel.
Beautiful little gem of a hotel tucked away in the winding streets of Urfa. Baaz, the hotel manager, was an amazing help in coordinating airport pickup and drop-off for me and arranging a car to Gobekli Tepe. Baaz went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and showed tremendous care and hospitality. Thank you, Baaz!
Hotel is center of old city, you can walk around everywhere. And hotel's staff are very kindly and gentle. I asked cleaning shirts, they did it speedly. Now tourists are decreasing caused earthquake, but Ulfa is not seriously area, ta least afterquake were not durling my stayed. The kittens and mom cat) are heartwarming!!
We went to Babil Antique in Sanliurfa with the desire to visit Gobekli Tepe. The accommodation pleasantly surprised us due to the beautiful Middle Eastern decorations, with accents from ancient Mesopotamia. Not inferior was the host, very kind and who introduced us to the local attractions. We will definitely be back.
The hotel is near the ibrahim cave and fish pond. But I just dont like when I check out they asked to paid cash in euro. I said I paid with credit card they said they dont have credit machine. And when I paid in cash they dont gave receipt, we had to fight with the hotel owner, then only I got my receipt.
Super friendly and caring staff , cleanness was above my expectations and they did everything to make you comfortable. The manager was a lady that was very nice and you could see her management touch in every nice aspect of the hotel .
Ideal location for exploring the city. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great courtyard and roof terrace. Tasty and plentiful breakfast. The room has everything you need. I highly recommend this hotel and hope to return here again.
Very quiet place in the city - beautiful property a little oasis - rooms large and comfortable- lovely courtyards
Parking is by arrangement with nearby parking lot - back way makes it close to the hotel
Breakfast is amazing!
The hotel staff were very accommodating, breakfast on the terrace with beautiful view of the city. Location is very central, the bus from the airport stops next to the hotel. Clean room and very spacious.
Wonderful movie setting in the hotel with wonderful room, comfortable bed, terrace, delicious and copious breakfast and a dedicated team. One of these perfect places I'll remember for a while!
Hotel is small but very well located, just across the street from main attraction. Our room was small but clean. Hotel staff Fuat Bey was very kind and attentive. Breakfast was nice.
The hotel is a 600 years old beautifull restaurated place. The owner miss yasemin and and her staf, edoecially Fatih are extremist helpfull and friendly
