Shutters on the Bank was very clean, quiet, and relaxing. I will definitely be booking again with my family! We've found our go to spot whenever we travel to OBX! The front desk staff were friendly and the room service staff were friendly!

They don’t have an elevator in first building, had to carry luggage & other stuff up staircase! It was very hard for senior. Even mentioned it to staff was nasty response to us! Didn’t offer any help! Also in complex they only had 1 ice machine on first floor

The Outer Banks of NC is a must see.
The Outer Banks of NC is a must see. We did it all in the time frame we had and the weather that didn't always cooperate. The Sand Dunes at Jockey State Park, The Wright Brothers Memorial, Jeanette's Pier, Pea Island, The Graveyard Memorial, The Elizabethan Gardens, and the Wild Horses Tour in the Hummer was all so exciting and amazing!! The restaurants we are at were just ok or not ok.....Sam Omies and The Crab House.

First time in OBX, loved it.
First time in OBX, loved it. We stayed here since it was pretty central to go both directions up and down the coast easily. There is plenty to do, weather pending. We came in shoulder season so it was quiet and a little chilly. I hear it gets incredibly busy in the summer. Beautiful part of the coast and will come again.

This hotel is beach front and although it was foggy and rainy, we could still see the ocean.
We liked the fact that there as a little cafe run by Dave who made us up a shrimp and salad supper so we didn’t have to navigate in the fog!
Most of all, the staff at the hotel are great and super helpful. We had a problem with payment which has been sorted out by the Manager, Lynnsey.

We have stayed here several times and will definitely stay here again.
You can’t beat the off season rates for everything they have to offer.

The last time I was in KDH was about 20 years ago and I have to say time has not not been kind to it. So commercial, touristy and filthy. Litter and cigarette butts covered the side of the road, where you will have to walk if you want some exercise, as there are no sidewalks on many of the busy streets.
We visited in the off-season as a side trip on our way from NJ to GA so we could go to the Wright Brothers memorial. The memorial is nicely done, and the building it is housed in is lovely. I'd suggest making a day trip to see it and then getting out of town.

Ya get what you pay for. Cheap price for a cheap room. A/C did not work well, whole building and room needed updated, you deal with a kiosk at lobby, there is a live person but they don't do anything, had to put$100 cash into kiosk for security deposit, didn't want to give a credit card, we booked with booking.com so they didn't have my info, it wad all paid for ahead, then go back to kiosk in am and go thru all the crap to get my $100 back, I like cheaper rooms but I think I will scratch this hotel off my list
Location is one block from the beach. There are 2 building blocks - one on the beachfront. I requested closer, but was told this was $250 more. Otherwise, our block was only one block from the beach. Road is a little busy so watch the young kids.
2 bedroom suite was spacious, clean and well equipped.
The unit block has a checkin lounge with games, books, dvds, popcorn which the kids loved. There are also daily activities.
Some people are permanent owners and all were lovely and welcoming.
Great Place, we only stayed a night since we were driving along the Outer Banks, comfy bed, the lady at the reception super friendly, large parking lot, breakfast good, the upper floors were a price class higher so we only where in 2nd floor ==> you can get a glimpse of the ocean behind the embankment and you can definitely hear the calming waves on the beach!
Even during off-season there was a really good dining in close proximity (Kill devil grill)
The room was very spacious for six of us! It had great amenities, I loved that it was overlooking the pool and the ocean view. It was the cheapest hotel I could find in the area and that didn't lack service of the rooms, the hotel staff, or anything for the price! It was close to all attractions in Kill Devil Hills! I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel and definitely stay there again!
This place is not a 5 star hotel, so stop expecting to get 5 star accommodations for 3 star prices. The John Yancey Oceanfront Inn is in a great location, right on the beach, walking distance to a TON of places, and offers a nice, clean room for an affordable price with a continental breakfast.
Location is the best feature of this hotel-right on the beach and central to everything in the town.
Breakfast bar was good, standard for free/included breakfast.
Staff was friendly, front desk staff efficient.
Room offered the basic amenities and beds were comfortable.
The hotel is right on the beach. Great location. The room was clean and bright. The sunrise view was spectacular (From ocean front room on upper floors). Indoor pool is enjoyable. Staff were nice and positive.
Our room had a nice ocean view
The hotel is very close to kitty hawk and the museum we wanted to see. Breakfast was very basic but I like getting a cup of coffee in the morning
Greg and Annette were very attentive and pleasant hosts and made our stay at OBX great. Being able to grill for every meal is not something one can do if staying at a hotel!
