The historic piazza Mercato and the area there(just round the cornner and ?100 m down a shopping street) was wonderful. Modern services with cafes/restaurants and interesting shops made up the perimeter of the piazza . Despite its comfort and accommodation of modern details the historic atmosphere and authenticity wasn't compromised. There was a fabulous bookshop (for almost any subject I think) but brilliant for alpinism/alpine history. Supermarkets were <1km away, train <1 km away, peaceful at night - you can't not love it which is why people from Switzerland cross the border to enjoy life in some warmer sun

If you don't speak Italian and you don't have your own car...
If you don't speak Italian and you don't have your own car either skip Domodossola or make sure you are staying in a place right in town. Once you leave the center of town it's not a walkable place. The drivers race everywhere despite the narrow streets, there aren't any sidewalks in the residential areas and it's extremely difficult to find anyone who can speak English.
On the positive side the prices were a lot lower for everything than in Switzerland and the architecture and scenery was beautiful.

Lovely medieval old town, nice restaurants in the main square, not many tourists there. Amazing mountain views all around .Good base for the Centovalli rail journey through to Locarno . Don’t miss the steep hillside walk up the Calvario , amazing views .

Having had a great two night stay we extended it a further two night which we quickly regretted.
The noise which started on the third night was intolerable. A local bar started blasting loud music around 5pm. The police drove passed several times but didn't intervene until around 11pm. This did not stop the music or noise. When the music stopped just before midnight we had endured it for almost 7hours non-stop. We were exhausted and the shouting of people outside (including young children at the bar) continued into the early hours of the morning. We would not return!

Beautiful little medieval centre, lots of pedestrian streets, masses of good restaurants, fabulous setting in the mountains.
Not too busy even in high summer, and friendly locals. Well-connected by trains to Switzerland and the rest of Italy.

Local residents are very friendly, helpful people.
Local residents are very friendly, helpful people. The life is so laidback, food is amazing. You can try loads of different type of wines, all of them was really nice. You can find vegan restaurants and the are cater for gluten free as well. If you want a really relaxing holiday, I highly recommend this little beautiful town.
Paolo and Claudia were super friendly and helpful hosts! They greeted us on arrival and Paolo also gave some really good recommendations on places to eat and activities around Domodossola. There's private parking behind a gate and the house was new and well furnished. We stopped by here for a couple of days on the way to Lake Como and it's an amazing stay.
Charming two bedroom suite right in the heart of Domodossola.
Everything really close , great restaurants and cafes nearby!
Parking was available and the staff was very friendly and accommodating, offering water right after we arrived. They took time to explain everything and direct us towards the highlights of the city.
Perfect place to feel the old town of Domodossola. It’s located around the corner of picturesque place, Piazza Mercanto, which is 7 minutes on foot from the train station. The apartment seems newly renovated and very clean even though the house is very old. The host is very kind and willing to assist
This was the first time we had stopped at this hotel and it was very nice.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and pleasant.
The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable
The bathroom was very clean and the shower was very good
The breakfast was continental and very good
Eurossola is a beautiful and welcoming hotel right across from the station. The staff were so lovely and the room and bathroom wonderful, clean, and classy. The breakfast buffet was very nice. As a single female traveler, this hotel was a dream and very fairly priced.
The hotel is just at the front of train station and very near at the city center, supermarket. Hotel staffs are very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Their breakfast buffet is very simple but good enough. The suite was very nice, and has a nice view of mountains!
Our second stay here now and will continue to be for a next trip to domodossola. Excellent room, facilities, location and staff. Breakfast also fantastic with lots of locally sourced produce and in a stunning “cave” in the basement. Really can’t fault this property.
Staying at this property was the best choice we could have made for Domodossola! The owners were so kind and hospitable, the rooms and shared spaces comfortable, a delicious homemade breakfast, and nothing could beat that view in the morning as the sun rose!
Own kitchen facilities, more of an apartment than a hotel room
Very centrally located with easy access to bars and restaurants
Very friendly host, did not speak English, but that was never a problem
Exceptional value for money
Everything! They were so nice and great value. We had been traveling for a bit and this is exactly what we needed to wind down. The accommodations were excellent as well as the breakfast and hotel services.
it’s a small family hotel where the staff is simply outstanding. we came at 22h and were a bit hungry so the checkin lady did everything to find us some things to eat. overall we slept well. thank you
The location is great, historical center, beautiful and quiet! Small balcony and very comfortable bed. A lot of towels and things to clean, thank you! We enjoyed our staying in Domodossola.
