a wonderful place with so much to do - the sacre monte, lots and lots of historic gardens, in walking distance the Villa Panza with amazing art and gardens - have lunch there it is fabulous. Also just staying by the pool with its views is amazing it's a shame it closes it 7pm - it really warrants longer hours.

Despite traveling to Italy yearly, I had never visited Varese until now. I was initially hesitant to stay in Varese since I needed to be within an hour from Milan for the Salone del Mobile, but I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the city. Varese was vibrant both during the day and at night, with a plethora of excellent restaurants and cafes to explore. Its proximity to the stunning lakes of Como and Varese was also a huge plus. The sight of the snow-covered Alps provided a picturesque backdrop that made Varese even more special. The charming cobbled streets in the city center were lined with pretty buildings that showcased the history of the area. Although we only stayed for two days, I could have easily extended my stay for a week or more.

Varese is a great location for "lake hoping", where every day we saw a different lake. I recommend two restaurants: The Hotel Colonne and La Vecchia Varese. Both have excellent and authentic food, with friendly staff and wonderful service.

We traveled to Varese for 3 days to see the Sacro Monte located a few miles outside the town - part of a self guided tour of these unique sites in Lombardy and the Piedmonte. We ventured into the old town in search of a restaurant one night which was pretty frustrating - mostly bars and fast food in that area, so we ate at the hotel the other nights. The town is a mixture of beautiful older Italian villas and awful 1960’s and ‘70’s apartment buildings - kind of a hodgepodge. The areas in the hills around Varese are lovely with beautiful views.

We were passing through.
We were passing through. By bike we made a great tour into the mountains. Varese itself is not too interesting: just a rich-peoples city with good restaurantfacilities.
You can visit the lake(s) for a swim, you can bike and walk in the mounrains.
The location is excellent. Gianpiero and Alessandra waited for us at the railway station, the communication was great.
They helped us with everything from ordering our food on arrival to making the reservation at the restaurant for the next day (my birthday). The apartment was warm and cosy, water and wine in the fridge, coffee, tea, pasta, biscuits and some other things were waiting for us. Varese Prime was the best apartment I have ever booked.
The hotel is not in the centre, but there is a bus stop nearby. The staff is wonderful, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Great and varied breakfast, from cereal, walnuts and almonds, to fruit, eggs, cheese & meat and bread and sweet pastries and cakes. The hotel also has a restaurant on site for lunch and dinner. Large and spacious room, comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Excellent WiFi. I would definitely stay here again.
The village, where the hotel is located, is in a fantastic position to overlook the valley (the start of the Pianura Padana rolling down towards south). The hotel itself is a beautiful building, with a '50 charm that makes it unique.
The room was huge.
The terrace, where you can have breakfast and dinner (depending on the weather) is spectacularly romantic.
The staff has been great in welcoming us and spoiling us.
The room was excellent; very large room with beautiful decor, king size bed, mini fridge, electric kettle, and amazing shower. The breakfast was delicious and generous, an it was delivered to the room on time as requested. The central location in Varese’s historic area is perfect for walking around and exploring.
The hotel is set in a beautiful old manor house - loads of free parking on the grounds which is handy. The room was pretty basic but comfortable. Breakfast was good - croissant, eggs etc.. It was a 10 min walk into Varese - a surprisingly charming town. I would stay here again if I ever came back to Varese.
Cosy and well equipped small apartment - very clean and a large comfy bed. Good location and cheap parking nearby. 15 minutes walk into Varese old town and 5 minutes walk to C route bus to Sacro Monte (a must see UNESCO site) - funicular runs at weekends to avoid long walk up!! Owners very responsive.
This historic hotel is located above the city with excellent views. Once you are up at the hotel, you will not wish to come down to the city, but enjoy the property, the restaurant (make reservations) and the cooler breezes above the city. The bar just beckons you for at least one cocktail.
the exterior design and the garden are beautiful. the breakfast, the room and the in general the hotel are basic but very good.
All the hotel is one floor and every room has a back entrance with a parking.
Lake Varese is in walking distance and I spent my mornings running there.
Stunning old Grand Hotel overlooking Varese. Spectacular views and the grounds are beautiful. The room was very nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very stylish and serves excellent food at moderate prices. Fantastic experience.
Awesome hotel in a great location. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was amazing! We didn't expect to get a room with a view but we had an exceptional view of the whole Varese and Monto Rosa could be seen on the clear days.
Really great place to stay in Varese. Easy walk to train or amazing onsite parking if you are driving. Super nice staff. Spacious, clean, modern room. Strong wifi. Lovely breakfast.
Staff were excellent and very helpful.
Rooms were large, clean and comfortable with a great bathroom.
Felt very welcome. Definitely the hotel to stay at when in Varese.
The hotel is perfectly located in the hertof Varese, has a great restaurant. Having a small apartment for family of 5, with a small kitchen and even a laundry, is exelent
