We stayed at El Balcon on numerous occasions during our time in Cusco and the staff were so helpful with holding onto our luggage whilst we were away on excursions and the laundry service was great too! We kept choosing to return to El Balcon due to its great authentic feel, with its cosy rooms (always a hot shower) and wood burning stove with breakfast (the pancakes were amazing) it’s in a great location (the views of the city from the top floor were stunning) and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Regarded as the oldest inhabited city of the Americas and its historical capital, none of these things are enough to describe the magic enchainment and colourful people of Cusco. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its current shape is the colonial result of building on top of many Incan sites. A good example is the Cathedral of Santo Domingo.
Must see places include the walled complex of ‘Sacsayhuamán’, and the remains of the main temple of ‘Coricancha’, dedicated to the Sun God ‘Inti’. For longer Cusco stays, hotels near ‘Plaza de Armas’ central square are ideal to fully enjoy the city. Due to its 3400-metres altitude, some Cusco hotels offer oxygen to help their guests.
Moray, supposedly an ancient experimental agricultural station, is 46 km away, while the Titicaca Lake is 390 km away. The road to Machu Picchu is the famous Inca Trail or ‘Camino Inca’, which encompasses settlements, different Andean environments, and many Incan ruins.
Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport offers several services to Lima. Arriving at Wanchaq Railway Station or ‘Terminal Terrestre de Cusco’ bus station are also popular choices. Come to visit the ancient jewel, enjoy Peru and Cusco with the hotel deals available on Booking.com!

Cusco is a captivating destination that offers a blend of rich history, delicious cuisine, and stunning landscapes. One of the highlights of my trip to Cusco was definitely the ceviche. Served in many restaurants throughout the city, Cusco's ceviche is a delightful explosion of flavors, with fresh fish marinated in citrus juices and accompanied by vibrant herbs and spices. It's a must-try dish for any food enthusiast visiting the region.
Another aspect that impressed me about Cusco was the abundance of fresh produce. Whether strolling through local markets or dining in restaurants, I was constantly amazed by the variety and quality of fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients. The use of fresh, locally sourced products truly enhances the culinary experience in Cusco, adding authenticity and depth to every dish.
Beyond its culinary delights, Cusco is also home to fascinating Inca ruins that offer a glimpse into the ancient civilization that once thrived in the region. Exploring sites such as Sacsayhuamán, Machu Picchu, and Ollantaytambo was a truly awe-inspiring experience. The intricate stonework, breathtaking vistas, and intriguing historical significance of these ruins make them a must-visit for any traveler interested in unraveling the mysteries of the Inca Empire.
Overall, my time in Cusco was filled with unforgettable experiences, from savoring mouthwatering ceviche to marveling at ancient Inca ruins. It's a destination that seamlessly blends cultural heritage, culinary delights, and natural beauty, making it a truly remarkable place to explore.

Getting around Cusco was easy.
Getting around Cusco was easy. We are walkers and we love to see the typical markets and amazing museums. Its people are friendly and helpful. Any question was answered when we just ask anyone around. Restaurants? Mother of God! Delicious, too many options to choose from. From simple restaurants to fancy ones and the best: beautiful women in the street with cooked corn and pineapple slices to sale.

Cusco is one of my favorite cities in Peru.
Cusco is one of my favorite cities in Peru. It is a photographers dream, almost every you look there is a chance to take a wonderful travel photo while walking around, the old city is an absolute joy. No mater how long I have stayed in Cusco it has been too short and I always want to return to see things I have missed. However, it is a good idea to book a hotel which offers heat in the rooms as it can get rather chilly at night in the cold season.

It´s one of the most beatiful cities I've visited.
It´s one of the most beatiful cities I've visited. I love the landscape view, people is very kind and it has a lot of activities to do. I stay in Cusco a very short time, but I enjoy it as much as I could. I visited San Blas viewpoint, the Church and Rainbow Mountain, but my favorite place without no doubt was Machu Picchu.
We had an amazing stay in Hostal Madre Tierra. The location was perfect in the cosy area San Blas.
The whole hostal and the rooms were nicely decorated, it felt really cosy and warm!
Host Maykquell and his wife made us feel like we were at our second home. They were very friendly and extremely helpfull. Every night we got a hot water bottle to keep warm in bed, these details made us feel like we were in a home instead of a hotel.
When we came back to Cusco after our trekking we stayed again at Madre Tierra because we had such a good time.
The Location is perfect! With great views of the church and convent of Santo Domingo. The best hotel staff we came across in Peru, always friendly, helpful and attentive. We stayed two nights before traveling to Machu Picchu, so we checked out and left our bags in the hotel’s storage. When we returned a couple of days later, they had already done our new check in and the bags were waiting for us in our new rooms. This was a wonderful detail after hours of traveling and feeling really tired.
Never given a 10 rating for a hotel and i have been travelling for the past 6 months staying in 4 & 5 star hotels only.
The best value for money hotel i have stayed in. The hotel is extremely good and the staff cannot do enough for you. We paid £45 per night, considering this included, daily clean, water and breakfast you cannot ask for anymore. If anymore was offered surely the hotel would lose money. We loved the hotel and Cusco so much that we extended for another 7 nights.
The hotel was cute, great view from the terrace.
The location is good, not so far from the main attractions even if the accessibility is medium: the hotel is located in a small street up on the hill and non accessible by car. We had to carry ou luggage ourselves from plaza de San Blas.
The rooms were spacious and the cleaning lady was very nice and helpful, she would ask what we want for breakfast, and keep our room keys when we would go outside.
This is a beautiful, comfortable, welcoming hotel! The hotel is in a very nice small, one way street in the San Blas district not far from the Plaza des Armas. Its an old colonial building with courtyard and galleries--really lovely. The rooms are extremely comfortable with great beds and fully modern and luxurious bathroom. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and was included in the rate.
Beautiful property! We stayed here for one night after hiking the Inca Trail and Gladys was extremely helpful and kind. We were exhausted and she allowed us to check out midday so we could sleep and take our time in the morning. The breakfast was great and one of the better hotel breakfasts I’ve had in Peru. The room and bathroom were clean and fabulous - a great place to unwind after a long week.
loved everything about this hotel. Stayed here 1 night during our honeymoon and wish we had booked all of our nights in Cusco here. We came back in the evening to find the heater turned on, bedwarmers under our covers, and nighttime tea left for us! Really nice touches.
Location in San Blas was great and A+ service from the staff. Would stay here again and recommend anyone in Cusco to go here.
We loved that the hotel was far enough away from the “hustle and bustle” of the main square but close enough that it was very walkable - about a 10 min walk down. The San Blas area where the hotel is located has lots of great gems for food and shopping.
We also enjoyed breakfast with many options. The room was large, beautifully decorated and beds were very staff were courteous and helpful.
We didn't actually stay at this hotel... I guess we booked with a company called Apu's Peru and they organized our stay but were not honest at all and stole about 300 USD dollars from us. Be very aware of Apu's Peru... when we challenged them they ghosted us, taking all our money and did not even completely pay for the meals they said they would so we had to pay the restaurant ourselves.
Amazing stay in Cusco. Close to historic church. Excellent room structures, bright, very comfy bed and linen. All service was exceptional from check-in to out. Superbly decorated hotel. Excellent tasty dinner, bar and breakfast. Make a memorable one in my Peru trip. Bonus, love that city view from my room that would be able to see a huge sign on the mountain "Viva El Peru".
The hotel is super cozy/authentic vibes to Peru. Loved the lobby yard/garden/seating area.
Breakfast was good, wish they replenished the items more. All the typical items you'd ask for.
Room was clean and comfortable.
It was within 7-10 minutes to city center and main square of Cusco. Very safe and accessible to all restaurants and shops.
Really nice hotel in San Blas. A bit far but it is in a quiet and pretty square. The facilities are great and the rooms are super nice with lots of storage, good shower. Wifi is much better than in other places (but Cusco in general can have wifi issues). The staff are very friendly and breakfast is great
Very nice hotel with great interior. I really enjoyed my stay here, I had a room with a view to the square. Room and bathroom were super clean and they cleaned everyday. Location is also great, San Blas is very pleasant area. They stored my luggage during my trip to MP that was very comfortable.
We stayed in this hotel with my friends more nights and it was very convenient. I could stay alone in our big apartment to avoid moving. Staff is really nice. I felt safe in the neighbourhood, but that counts for the whole Cusco.
Prominent San Blas is around the corner.
The location is in beautiful San Blas. It’s a trek to get up to the neighborhood but it’s a great stay. The hotel was beautiful and quiet. Very relaxing. The staff was very kind. Breakfast was very good every single morning we were there. I definitely recommend.
Cozy hotel in the middle of San Blas. Still accessible to the center but close to cool cafés and restaurants.
The rooms were very comfortable! Amazing deal for the price.
I like the location of the hotel, it was right by Plaza de Armas. The market was an 8 min walk to the left and San Blas was also an 8 min walk but to the right.
