The Fontenay Hamburg is a 5-star hotel situated on the shore of the Alster Lake in Hamburg, within walking distance of the famous shopping area at Jungfernstieg. For breakfast, the ability to make your own juice from a nice selection of fruits and vegetables. Room was exceptionally well lit (floor to ceiling windows). Location on the water could not be better. Staff was excellent, polite and professional.

The location was ideal, in a very scenic neighborhood, only a few steps from a major U-Bahn station (Dammtor). The breakfast was lovely, with a range of options, all fresh and delicious. The staff was amazing! They helped with so many things, from arranging a taxi to the airport to providing a thread and needled to mend a garment. And they did so many special touches, such as providing a small kids lamp in the shape of a mushroom for our seven-year old daughter.

This hotel occupies a mid-19th century Hanseatic building, in the popular district of Harvestehude and lies close to the Alster lake, Dammtor railway station and the exhibition grounds. Excellent breakfast -- brilliant espresso.
