Get here before the hoards of tourists arrive, early in the morning. It's hard to avoid the touts suggesting horse, cart or camel rides - just ignore them if you can. Going with a guide might help.

The pyramids are nice but the experience was a bit of a disappointment. You are hassled from beginning to end and end up concentrating more on refusing souvenirs and camel rides than you do on taking in this amazing sight. Every single person there ( from your own private guide to souvenir sellers ) seems to think you have gone there to buy a papyrus bookmark. It is frankly ridiculous and really detracts from the experience

Stay in one of the cheap hotels right in front of the Pyramids - then you can wake up to the wonderful views, have great sunsets and listen to the evening sound and light show for a few minutes - any longer and you would be tearing your hair out with boredom

What can I say. It’s an ancient wonder which should make it amazing and it is amazing to look at and realize this thing was built 5000+ years ago, but the whole area is overrun with people trying to get your money. Vendors, camel rides, people trying to get your picture. It just takes away from the whole experience. I knew it would be a busy site but it is beyond overcrowded to an extent I have never experienced. If you enter into the large pyramid, please note that it is very hot. You have to crawl in long narrow passages with people going both directions. Sweaty bodies need to rub against each other to get through.

View from the tarrance is ok, but the whole area looks rather depresing due to lots of poorly treated animals, unfinished constructions, chaotic design and garbage. But that is esentially Egypt.
