The Alcazaba

This magnificent Moorish fortress was constructed during the 10th century, when Almería was named a 'medina' (city) by the Caliph of Córdoba. The grounds are beautiful, with fountains and gardens spreading out over the hilltop. As you explore, you'll look out over the ancient city and the sea.

Visit Gibralfaro first as it's on the hilltop and walk down to Alcazaba - this makes the stroll much easier than what many the opposite, that many tourists do. Also take Uber or bus 35 to reach Gibralfaro rather than walking up the hill.

Alcazaba is probably worth seeing, but I did not think it...

Alcazaba is probably worth seeing, but I did not think it was wonderful. It consists of a bunch of mostly empty rooms and areas. The layout is quite confusing, with lots of turns; it is deliberately confusing for defensive purposes according to our guide. The guide was not very good. She had clearly memorized a speech and got confused by questions.

    Worth the visit.

Worth the visit. Less well know that it's big brother in Granada but very impressive and worth the visit. Really help to do your homework and get an understanding of the time & context of when the building was in use in order to understand how far ahead of the curve the Moorish occupation of southern Spain was & how they sparked the enlightenment period across Europe.

This and the Gibralfaro make a good day out. We recommend taking food and a lot of drink. The Alcazaba has wonderful Islamis architecture, and lots of good viewpoints. The Gibralfaro is a stiff climb, but worth the effort.

    Do the double!

Do the double! You can get a tick for two attractions in one and if you want to see breath-taking sights and historic ruins, better to get the joint ticket. Bring plenty of water as the trek up the hill is substantial and can take about 25 minutes depending on the party but worth it!

So cool something this old is still standing.

So cool something this old is still standing. It offers the best views of the city, but try and go when it's not too hot. It's a complete vertical hike. I'd say where any shoes that have grippy soles.

Perfectly Situated a stone’s throw from the Alcazabar and the old town with its many restaurants and bars and yet still convenient for the Marina and beach. This place is all about location. In addition the Batik restaurant is excellent as is the trendy rooftop bar.

The apartment îs very close to the City Center, about 5-8 min walk. 10 min from the Alcazaba, 15 min from the harbour and 25 min from the Malagueta Beach. Its really clean and Cozy, just like the name sais. Karl, the guy who welcomed us in, had a lot of recommendations for us, and that was great. To get from the Airport to the apartment, you get renfe subway, C1, to the Centro Alameda Station and then walk for about 20 minutes in an almost straight line. Will definitely come again

Thins is the second time at Apartmentos Alcazaba. The location is excellent! We travel with two young children and they love feeding the pigeons in the Plaza del Merced, which is just as you exit the building. There are two supermarkets within a one minute walk, and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The hosts are friendly and very responsive In terms of the apartment, it is exactly as you see in the photos, so what you see is what you get.

Location was amazing, so close to all the main attractions in Malaga. We stayed during Semana Santa and it was a great location for getting to see some of the processions, some passed just at the end of the close on Good Friday. Alcazaba just around the corner, few minutes walk to the cathedral. Lots of cafes, restaurants and bars close by. Small supermarket a couple of minutes walk. The apartment had everything we needed.

We liked the location of the apartment being near to several of the attractions we wanted to visit. 1 minute from the Picasso museum, 2 from the cathedral and with views out of the little balcony of the Alcazaba. We also liked that the apartment was airy and beautifully clean and Chloe was so very helpful.

Location very central, just a short walk to the town centre. Accommodation had everything we needed for our short stay in Malaga. Great breakfast bakery at the top of the road too! Perfect for us! Hard Rock Cafe and other restaurants very accessible within a few minutes of walking by the marina! About 10 minute walk into the centre of town where you find locations such as the Alcazaba and the castle!

Both the central location and the private parking nearby were very much to my liking. I also enjoyed some very nice restaurants within 50 or 100 meters from the hotel. All the great sites to visit were only a few hundred meters away: the Alcazaba, Roman theatre, Malaga museum (very quiet), Picasso museum (very busy) and the cathedral. Being so nearby enabled me to visit them early and avoid the biggest crowds. Room was small, but had all the necessities and was very quiet and clean. Staff very helpful. Breakfast pretty good.
