In the heart of Old Portsmouth, the Duke of Buckingham is just a 10-minute walk from Gunwharf Quays and the historic waterfront.

The bright and airy bedrooms each have free WiFi, a TV and tea/coffee facilities. Most rooms have a private bathroom. Ironing supplies and hairdryer are available upon request, from reception. Free WiFi is also available in the reception area.

The room was actually in the carriage house behind the main street/hotel. In addition to our bed, there was and extra twin bed in the room and plenty of space for our suitcases. It was walking distance to the Hovercraft and many restaurants and historic/interesting sights.

Reception and restaurant team were trying their best. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful and polite. They are massive asset to this hotel and it is not their fault IHG group is not investing in the hotel allowing it to fall apart. Hotel is in need of major renovation! Although breakfast and dinner were spot on - I'm sure restaurant is the reason guests are still coming back. Stay was my birthday treat and unfortunately it was well below my expectations.

The location was great. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The staff were brilliant and it's a shame that the Innkeepers group have provided them with a substandard refit.

Lovely hotel, nice big clean rooms. Friendly helpful staff, in a quiet area not far from all the local amenities, the farmhouse inn next door does good food and reasonably priced,

Can't beat the location: across the road from the National Coach station; close to shopping and the historic dockyard and the Spinnaker Tower (with 20% discount for admission). Quiet. Staff very helpful. Excellent 5 star restaurant!
